Rebel (Sketchbook) Huge Update December 26th!

    Hey everyone,

I've been planning on putting up a sketchbook here for a while just to get feedback on progress. I'm constantly sketching, or, trying to get used to it. I started off my artistic career by not sketching enough. I went right to the final. Bad idea. Now I can't sketch very well at the prime of my time, so I've been sitting down and sketching like you wouldn't believe. I know that a good sketch ultimately means a better finish. So...here's to hoping I can get used to it.

Here's some recent sketchdumping. I think it should be fitting to start a sketchbook with sketches, right?
I'll be updating with works in progress and the like. Let's hope I don't abandon it...hum. ;P

Welcome. At least to the sb section

    Nice studies. Keep doing them!
I'm not very fond of your colouring. Try not to save all of the lines from your sketches when colouring. As in this one http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...InTwilight.jpg

btw. I think you doubleposted, might want to get that fixed

Either you try to delete it yourself. Or you'll just contact a moderator (there's plenty in 'The Lounge').

Here's a link to the empty one: http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=68444

I don't think it would be doing any damage lyin' around. But.. yeah

It's obviously in a very early stage but one thing I think you could of done was given it a much more, I guess "exciting", perspective. Think about how they might of shot this scene in a movie. As it is now it has a middle ground and a background, but no real foreground.
Might be a bit late to change anything but eh, something to gnaw on for the future.

Wow, beautiful stuff, love the emotion of those paints. As for the WIP I agree w/ snowfall, It needs something in the forground, maybe a big piece of scrap metal in bottm left or right?

    I would agree with you 100% if I wasn't a lazy bastard

I just might add something in the foreground, you're right. To balance it out. Thanks a lot.

wow a lot of great stuff! some of your digital coloring needs some work(as suggested maybe try and not include the lines) but most of it is really totally nice, especially your pencil stuff stands out to me

Thanks for the reply! I know that leaving lines in coloring is nearly a sin, but a lot of the coloring I've been posting is sketch work, not exactly intended to be blown out paintings.

great pencil rendering, especially that cloth study at the very beginning.

I agree with the crits already provided

Have you tried creating many images to express an emotion/feeling/vibe more than a physical concept?

No, actually, besides some design work with color, I haven't. Sounds interesting.

Not much new, except my tablet. I recently switched from a 4X5 wacom graphire to a 12X12 wacom intuos2. Lineart has been no problem recently, but coloring on the other hand has been.
This is a practice run with it, there's still lots more to the picture, so it's a WIP.

    Cheers!
