Heeeey! Glad to see you made yoru sketchbook!

Ok it seems like you are already paying attention to alot of the fundamentals such as negative space (contrast), values, line qualities. That's awesome! How you will advance in no time. I also like the fact that you are paying attention to the general shapes of the subject you are drawing.

When it comes to faces (I am guessing that's what you want to focus on), just do references at least as often as you piss. Do it until you think you have memorized all facial features. Do you sometimes listen to a song so much you are so tired of it that you just want to die the next time you hear it because you have it imprinted into your brain? Yea, draw references until you feel like that.

hey nice to see you are up... how long does it typically take for you to finish a sketch? I only ask because i learned a lot from just focusing on ONE sketch for an hour... it does things to your frame of reference when you draw... Holla back.

friends don't let friends draw drunk ;P

seriously though, it can be a fun experience.. wake up in the morning, scramble some eggs, and go through the drunken fury that manifested itself the night before.

Love the last ones face but perhaps but a little more variation in the tones... same goes with the 1st picture the shadows are a little weird especially under the eyes... Other than that... I think I almost cried in fear when i saw the clown ^_^ good stuff! keep it up!

My drink and draw just put me to sleep... experiment over. Isn't it sad to sit at home drunk drawing in your sketchbook? Prolly end up crying over a lost love or something. Sad, sad, sad.

Actually I wasn't drunk when i drew this, i just had no idea what to call my thread ;-) . Yeah, I have tried it (who didn't? ;-) )by well, drawing drunk doesn't really help you to come up with something good.
Thanks for the kind replys anyways.
Threeeyesworm Thanks, yes heads is what i'm most concentrating on at the moment, right now I'm feeling that I slowly get to know what it looks like (sounds silly )
aeoxo Well, it depends. the bottom pic was 5 to 10 minutes i think, but the top page could be an hour, i think... I think it's hard to concentrate a full hour on the same pic.
    ZebzFree hehe, no
    Styler Thanks
blkn Lol, your comment really made me laugh. Yeah, of course it can be funny, but i doubt that great pieces of art are created that way ;-)
Erilaz Thank you! I'll do my best*g* (vacations are coming up )
Jworion Glad you like it Yes, i see your point on the shadow, i dunno how it happed to get there, i don't think it was on the photo (unnatural...)
ZebzFree Yes, I'm a tragic character, sooooooo sad hehe, don't worry about me...

PS: SSG-mates, I'll post in your sketchbooks later, gotta go - get something to eat now --- embee hates hunger! ugaaaa!

Oh I'm sorry, ok, changed it...

I felt like I could post some of today's scribbling in here. For some reason the Scans look fucked up as hell, but i don't know why...

Left side out of my head, hands from real life (my left one)

    All from reference

I gotta find out why the scanned images look that shitty...
    embee

Edit: Ok, I just found out, that I didn't push the tones hard enough... I compared these to some others that scanned well, and I see now, that the prblem is in the pics themselves... Maybe I'll go back to them and correct that, but not now - time to go to bed

I've noticed that scanning at a higher resolution and then decreasing the size of the image to what you need can help the image quality of a scan quite a bit.

Hey! I got my wacom yesterday (you know, europeans celebrate on 24th, but had to wait till today to test it. While experiencing the world of wacom-fun, i decided to wish everyone merry christmas and modify one of my tries... don't be too harsh, its nearly the first time i've used a wacom and i did't plan to give him the red thingy

    Merry Christmas!

This update needed some time to come up, cause this project was a little big. (Don't expect something huuuuuuuge, but it was quite a lot of work ;-) )
I did this one for school as a GFS which means "Gleichwertige Festellung von Schülerleistungen" :-) I know nearly nowbody knows what that means, but the most funny about it is, that even me (I'm german by the way ;-) ), I don't know what it really means, so whatever, I'll stop talking bullshit and come to the subjuect of this update.
I don't know how many hours it took, but I guess It were 8 - 10.
I think I will upload a tutorial later, just If someone wants to come up with something similar.
    So here are the pics:

I can hang it on my wall :-)

    I hope y'all like it.

HAHA! COOL! It's actually quite neat and I like it alot. I like the style and over all it's very clear what is going on. my only critique are the circles on frankenstein's undies. It just makes him look.... much less threatening. The circles make the undie look like a babies' bathing suit. Keep up the good work!

That is nice, it's very different and it creative. I think frankensteins undies make the art piece kindof humorous. That's true what he said though, it's not scary, but judging by the expressions on all the characters faces I don't think it was meant to be.

Thanks for your comments. Yes, I was in trouble with the monsters clothes. I wasn't sure if you should leave him naked, or whatever. My teacher told me i should take this version, because blabla, so i prostituted myself and did so, but still i'm not sure if it would be less humorous when it was naked...

#23: the girl doesn't look right. Don't know why but something isn't right

The self portrait, nice. As far as a quick sketch I can't find anything wrong with it really. For a finalized drawing you would just need to blend more and have the darks go into lights with more inbetween tones.

    Hey,

that artwork you did for school, i love it. I would buy it, you should get a high mark for it
With that beer picture, looks good, but try to do something at the top
With the self portrait, i dont really think theres anything wrong with it.

    Hey thanks for your replies...
Yes Styler, there is some problem with the girl but I couldn't figure out yet...
Qxzi, I'm glad you like these. Yes the mark was pretty good.
Hey dreck, i'll post that stuff later, cause some need more work/practice...

Here are some sketches from the last 2 days, i took photos this time, because my scanner sucks hard sometimes... I still don't know why, but some sheets get scanned pretty well and some look totally awful cause the scanner doesn't get the greys, but nearly only white and black.
    Here are the sketches:

the eyes are really flat in the top ones. Some of the eyes I didn't have beef with, mainly just the top ones that are really flat. The ear on the girl at the very top also doesn't look right.
