    Sig is trying again

Yeah ... the hopeless case is drawing again when time allows it.

Actually I think I'm starting to see some progress in the proportions when I draw from reference
... and decide to not give a damn about line quality.

Hope I'll reach a comfort level soom from which I can move on.

I'll combine studying with creating content for the Academy.
I'm not drawing instead of being active there.

I'm not updating the old sketchbook because of the domain registrar problems that I'm having.

Your stuff is quite good for someone w/ no confidence in their work. Keep practicing and you will show improvement.

Guess I'll have more confidence as soon as I can see the structure when I draw from life ...
and as soon as I get lucky more often when I draw from the mind.

I know how you feel, Signature... I too have no confidence in my drawing skills, or in my ability to improve my drawing capabilities.

I have no idea if you will ever get any better, but I can say that you are already alot better than me... Guess that doesn't make you feel any better huh? Well.... I haven't improved my imagination drawing abilities in the last 10 years (I have been trying all of that time), but I am going to keep trying for the rest of the year to improve. If I still don't see any progress...well...

Others have said they already see improvement, but I don't see it. But if I do actually improve, I suppose that means there is hope for ANYONE...even the blind and the retarded (and you too I suppose).

Good luck. Just keep working at it so you can at least appease your ego by "trying" even if not succeeding.

Nice stuff man, your ref drawing skills are real sharp. Some good gestures in your imaginative work. For your imagination stuff, trying working a little looser from time to time.. set the pencil down and pick it up as little as possible, let it flow out, dont worry if you end up making a little mess. Keep it up dude!

    Thanks for the comments, guys.

Some_Guy: Most of those "mind sketches" are based on looser sketches.
I just don't want to post those.

More done without reference. I should do more studies.

    Unhappy

Hey nice work man. I think you should study structural proportions with you objects cause a lot of your sketch work is missing that feeling of dept especially in the faces of the people. Anatomy class and just building you objects from shapes will help with this.

But all-in-all you do have a good overall eye for details.

your careful drawing might not turn to many heads atm but in the long run i think u'll profit from it. try to do those figure drawings a bit bigger. how about some males?

There's no working scanner at my parent's place ...
Did some drawings ... some have potential IMO.
They are too sloppily drawn. Need to refine them.

Good points here. I'll do some males soon.
I tried some ref. copies with the pieces by KChen in mind.
Showing the structure and all ...
Also I'll try to get an entry for the Master/Servant challenge at CGTalk done.
All ideas I had so far include males.

This is the first one that was moved to the scraps. Not self-explanatory enough.
Based on a sketch, took about 10 minutes.

Not sure if I should develop this further ...

Threw some colors on some of the sketches from mind ...
    Gimp/mouse, about 90 minutes.
Guess I should spend some more time on them.

I think it's great that you go back and forth between works from life and works from your memory. I can't stress how important that for learning to draw AND remembering how to draw things.... because lets face it... you can't have a model for EVERYTHING you draw.. well you could but.. it's a pain in the butt XD

And the result really shows. I really like seeing your drawings from your mind, they reflect what you learn from drawing in life. They're great, loose and natural gestures. Keep it up!

    Thanks for the kind words.

    Exactly my thoughts btw.:
Finding a balance between drawing from life, reference and mind is important.
Don't really think it is paying off in the drawings from mind though.

Finally I had the chance to scan something I did.

The next bunch will probably be from reference again.
And I need to get better at coloring.

I am seeing lots of potential here man. All you have to do is do more anatomy and stuff. Your pencils are pretty good and like I said I see potential in them to be even better. Your coloring needs work however. But I like the pencils
    Keep working!!
