    zouuu's sketchbook::Comics and scribbles

    hello

Start posting a self-learning thread, mainly exercices.

Go to the Last Page to see newer posts

    ....
I've done some of the journey alone (with helpfull advices and help of some very gentle users) and now i'm putting order in my learning, so i post my exercices.

i've been doing things so anarchically, that i got fed up and decided to concentrate.
First, on line drawing: proportions (contours)

    here's for today

what i hate the most is staying at the same level, that makes me unable to draw more
there is something that make the drawing don't capture the face, trying to find but... pehaps those face i try to draw are hard (like children) so that's not my level for now.

    this is an old drawing

    and here a re-try

    any help , welcome

    Hey zou,
    Welcome to CA.

Ur portratings cool man. I havent started portrating yet, and i should start it, when? , ehh
It seems uve worked with human block, and know it , but i would suggest to draw more of it. More studies. Do some more stuff from loomies, bridgman, and Specialy try Hogarth's method of drawing the heads, its excelentoo.
And work a little more on prespective.
Dont get angry if u dont see ur not improving or u are at the same level. Try some other things, try drawing figures, try environments, and many more. Expand your skills.
bottom line, ur portraitings great, draw more, more. draw everyday.
    keep it up dude.

I'll check out your thread again.

Those lips are looking fine man!!
my sugestion if this that when you draw lips
try to think as if they were surronding a cilinder
(the cilider representes your theet) try doing this
and you see what I mean.
your stuides are looking fine, and your
doing the rigth thing by getting your basics
polished down before any thing else

Just keep at it!!! ill be around.

    Hi Zou

    It's looking good...

Just as a suggestion...You might think of practice drawing the entire human figure too not only specifik parts. Just do simplified figures in the beginning so you get the proportions and balance in the figures... studying the specifik parts will make you able to do more detailed figures later on...when you are more confident in getting the figures balance and proportions and such you just add the details you learned from studying specifik parts.

Ps: Is it not time for an update

    you're right mindflaw

i've been busy and didn't very much updates but now back to school

the reason i didn't figure is that when started posting, i concentrated on heads, i want concentrate more but ... i got some fun on those heads and i did figure in the past that's why i'm not pressed by it. (hmm , i'm talking and talking : too much)

this wha i've done those days this ain't so much but for the first time i got to outside and drawed a bit.

Zou: It's a good thing to concentrate at one thing at a time.

About the eyes remember that the eyeballs are just as the name says balls...this mean when you draw think of the eyes as spheres(/balls) and the eyelids as drapery wrapped around the eyeball.

When learning to draw heads you might try this exercise *click me* The thread is no longer active but if you read fredflickstones replies you get a lot of additional useful information about the exercise.

Ps: Please don't thumbnail your pics...at least not in your latest update...when you update again you could edit your previous update and make them into thumbnails. This will make it easier to check out your stuff...

    hello

mindflaw thanks for the tips i'll keep it in mind,

i tried what flickstone said in the past, perhaps i should re-do it

but on those last ones, i tried quick drawing

ps: i didn't understood, you said don't thumails then you said make them into thumbails, if i were posting all in original format that would take too much time for low connected viewers.

    bye

hey, you got some nice works going on ... I didn't click all pics, sorry ... but it'd take so long ...

I think you should show the pics as they are (maybe make them a little smaller then they are now, so you can see them without scrolling !), not thumbnails ... it takes way more time to click them all, than to wait for them to load, and then look ...

Which may explain why you get so few crits ... in sketchbooks, most people crit re-occuring problems, overall progression ... that's hard if you don't look at all the pics !

Hope you'll show them normal size ... I'd be more than happy to see if I can give some useful C&C then !

PS, you got some double posts: click 'edit' on one of them, and then 'delete message' to delete the double one !

    Hi!

Visibile improvement from start to now.... only critique is to keep drawing and hit the anatomy books hard and put what you learn there into your portraits and such!

Great work, tons of drawings posted to far so keep it up!
