Best book to study (moved from TT&T)

hey everyone i bought to art books on amazon and was just wondering which i should study first.

i bought dynamic figure drawing by burne hogarth and bridgemans complete guide to drawing from life

their both pretty complicated with everything that is why i am asking this question thanks

I would suggest reading through both of them though personally I would start with "Bridgemans complete guide to drawing from life" though also have a look at some Andrew Loomis his work is a lot easier to understand but then you can combine both.

hands down in my opinion, complete guide to drawing from life. haven't read it but bridgeman is a big name here and the skills to draw from life applies to figure drawing.

I just dont understand people asking questions, on how should I read a book, and in what order, and what art book should I read.

I mean if you have bought the bloody books, bloody read them. WTF is hard about reading the book? Does it matter where, when and in what order you are going to read a damn art book. Jesus christ. Why buy the books if you dont even know what book you should read first?

It doesn't matter. Pick one and read it. Read the next one. Take time read, both.

The books will not explode in your face if you read them in the "wrong" order.

both are equally important but one is more relevant than the other at a given time. you see two paths ahead of you that lead to the same destination, one is easier travelling forward to the destination, while the other is easy travelling back. you see a bunch of people at the fork. wouldn't you like the opinion of others of which to take if both looked the same?
the point of asking is to gauge which is best to invest your time in first.
my opinion. life drawing first.

but to the OP, think upon what you believe is relevant and invest your time in that, but be sure to study the other.

Why does everyone ignore the "drawing FROM LIFE" part? Its meant as a *supplement* to drawing FROM LIFE, not a stand alone textbook. Its more than worth it to find a life drawing class/group and go as often as you can. After awhile of drawing from liife his sketches and notes make a lot more sense.

You'll get info from both. Draw the plates. Opinions differ on those two here. Good idea to get a less stylized reference as well, something along the lines of Artistic Anatomy by Dr. Paul Richer.
