They look like they are selling RPG cards that they somehow enhanced? While I think that is lame, they aren't claiming its theirs so I don't see why this isn't the same as just selling an unaltered card. Am I missing something?

If I'm understanding this right, they are taking paintings by other artists, slapping them on a card and selling the card.
Without asking for permission, giving credit, nothing. That link in Randis' post is one of his own paintings.

I had someone on ebay selling my work and claiming they had signed certification from me.

I contacted him and asked him to stop doing that and he did.

Have you contacted the person? Sometimes that may be enough to get them to stop.

Here's a link to the asshats shop. Tons of obvious plagiarisms: http://www.ebay.com/sch/texasladydd/...&_trksid=p3686

I will to my dying day, never be able to understand how plagiarist idiots think they can get away with copying others' works in the long run.

It's like getting through into Blizzard on a plagiarized portfolio - hard enough - but then when you can only draw stick figures, and Chris Metzen asks you to produce Diablo's 4th incarnation ripping The Hosts of Heaven a new Asshole with Imperius' own spine amidst the backdrop of the ruin of existence, "......give me a few....yea--weeks?"

    Great plan there, Bernini.
"Never regret thy fall from grace, O' spirit of Icarian flight, for the greatest tragedy of them all to face, is to never feel the burning bright"
Believe my lies, for I tell the truth about them. Or would you rather me lie about telling the truth?

I am a bit confused. Why would anyone want a small piece of badly printed cardboard? They aren't connected to a game of any sort, there is literally nothing you can do with it but throw it in the garbage.

The way people spend their money is sometimes most confusing. I doubt anybody is buying these things, so you guys shouldn't worry too much.

Good idea! Some 12$ a year extra would be sweet right

No but seriously, if some large company would steal and use your art in some IP that generates a big revenue, now that i would not mind.

the way the items look like and are named "MTG altered art" i assume that MTG stands for Magic the Gathering.
Those are fake, customized cards with different art.

As we all know, this is what happens when we display our work on the world wide webz.

This happened to me, though not via eBay.
This company that sells oil painted ‘reproductions’ (I’m sure paint-overs of artist’s work printed on canvas) was selling sweatshop repro-paintings of a couple of works of mine. I contacted them and they took down the work from their site catalog immediately.
Screenshots of the pages displaying my work:

    The balls on ‘em.
At least they gave me a reach around.

They described the wildlife artist Alan Hunt as ‘artist: unknown’. You can see his sig and © symbol on one of the images. There even messing with the Thomas Kinkade licensing machine (unless they're involved).

    heh...
Well, having just read about Thomas Kinkade I'm shocked that I needed to read about who he was. O.O can't say it's my cup of tea... really just because I prefer my tea with less than 15 sugars. But not the best marketing machine to mess with with, no perhaps they get hold of some of their stuff legitimately though.

I kinda doubt that Thomas Kinkade needs an additional revenue stream of 20$ a year enough to let them copy his work haha.

Coming from an ex-MTG player, that's a really cool service. Shame about the stolen art.
