    Topic: Paint(ball) Gun
    Deadline: Sunday, September 30

Ok, I'm going to try this...I'm thinking some type of heavy-anti-aircraft-type-base-defence....Here's some quick sketches to get things moving.

Damien I was thinking small until you came along lol XD

Here's my first wip, I wanted a paintball gun with more punch than usual but couldn't figure out how to use a propellant without shredding the ball, settled for using a sabot as a cushion in the end

My idea is the paintball gun (actually two of them) that you could sort of mount on your hands and do some heave paintball shooting. Backpack would feed the gun with different color ammunition so the shooter not only would be able to annihilate the target but also make a paintings! In backpack I included primary colors (red, blue, yellow) and white.

Hobbnob Ha, Thanks Your sketch reminds me of a pump action shotgun-paintball-gun...could be interesting shooting lots of little paintballs in one shot. Looking forward to seeing what you do with this!

Adrian Completely out of the box man. Interesting design. Looking forward to seeing this develop.

Latus That's cool I had an idea like this at work today, with the backpack ammo. The double barrels on each gun didn't cross my mind though. Nice work. Looking forward to this one too.

    ------

I have been working on a sketch, I wanted to get the 3 quarter view done tonight, but my eyes are starting to cross. Here's so far just to get it up.

I might change the barrels of paint for something else. I am struggling with the tripod on the gun and still trying to think of something interesting for the turrets.

    latus Man, that's looking sweet

    ------

Drawn up main part. I want to add a drawing of the computer system and control panel in the bottom left and colour the large sketch. The control part is not directly connected to the turrets, so the turrets are free to pivot. Hence the joystick.

    Comments and crits?

@latus - nice model! For a free product, Sketch Up is just awesome.

So with that, here's a W.I.P. of my weapon before I get some rest. I know it looks like a grenade launcher thus far, but it's going somewhere paint/color marking related.

Funny that I'd never be able to tell the difference if this thread was a "sci-fi gun" or a "paintball gun" thread.

Would love to participate but too much work this week. Next week maybe?

To Adrian: That is one nice alien paintball gun, but how does it work with that trigger?

Here's another WIP to get this thread going again. It'd be super cool if we could just extend the due date for this to compensate for the maintenance.

EDIT: Fixed the image finally. Also, I think we should put the finals thread up soon and move the deadline to this Sunday.

Nice to see were back up and running here. It would be nice to know how this is going to run. Do we get another deadline date for soonish as the forums went down before the actual deadline?

Anyway, I will post this up...this is what I would have submitted as my final.

Hello again. Deadline has been shifted to the 30th- hopefully everything will be settled by then and everyone will have gotten back on track by that point.

My thoughts also, maybe the "paint aspect" of the guns should be more emphasized.

I agree with Aksel and Neo. Especially the ones from Bread and Care. There are no signs of paint or paintballs. If it was your goal to make it look less paintball-gunish and more realistic then that is good. But most of the times subtle things, like just putting paintballs in the shells, aren't catchy enough.

Still I do like the designs and the images created so far.

Latus, are you inspired by this guy?
    http://www.techeblog.com/index.php/t...-paintball-gun
No big deal, I think your design looks better but maybe share the ref next time

And OFFTOPIC: what is happing to the forums? Is it under construction like the header says? Because a few weeks back I came here and most of the topics were gone

ONTOPIC: Here are my thumbs. I liked the idea with the gun over the shoulder but it isn't very useful in fast-paced combat. I like 5 although it looks too much like the deadspace gun. I think I'll go with 6, 10/11 or a altered 5 And I'll try to make it look like it's build out of random spare parts

I'll try to feedback everyone next time
