New games for old systems

I don't know if anyone here would be interested, but I've been looking into various links regarding game development for an outdated system or two. Examples of this include:
Gunlord for Neo Geo and Dreamcast.
Zaku for Atari Lynx (and every game that Brandon Cobb's Super Fighter Team has published.)
In other words, I wouldn't mind doing something like this, but am not much of a programmer. If anyone has any other examples of these types of games, I would like to see them.

Redux: Dark Matters by the people who made GunLord.

First time I saw this idea. I really hope someone out there makes something cool for the SNES and Genesis.

EDIT: Ah, I see. Super Fighter Team. I'd like a solid opinion before I check out any of their games. Nightmare Busters looks interesting.

Price: $60.00 each + s&h = $68.00

Yeah, that'd better be freakin' worth it. I don't care if that was the price of a new game back then, you can't sell a SNES game at that price in 2012, unless it's a legendary game like Chrono Trigger or something.

I can get a game 20 times more advanced than a Super Nintendo game at less than 20 bucks. Honestly, if I was 100% sure the game was worth owning, I'd gladly pay $20 for it, but they're out of their minds to be asking for $60.

To Psychotime: I definitely see where you're coming from on this. While I do understand that they're trying to make money, the prices are a bit high for something like those.

One of the most expensive things about old games was having the cartridges manufactured. Since they used to mass produce cartridges and now it's a niche market, and given that people make higher salaries now, I'm not surprised those games are on the expensive side. Now that's just for the games that ship on physical custom cartridges, not for DS games on micro sd cartridges.

With toes in the indie game development scene, i don't see why this is that important... the indie market loves to see something with a retro style for pc or tablet to the style of most of these titles.

making something for an older system is clunky and difficult, reaping little reward, be it monetary or renown

also knowing the modern pc user base, emulators kill consoles....

That doesn't look optimistic. Personally I don't want to have to hack into stuff to get something to work like that.

The idea of being able to put something on a console without paying $1,500 is kind of interesting. But Isn't modding just the way better choice there?
