    Hello fellow lurker. o/

Those are some really nice studies there! I admire how you did so many of them.
I especially like the last ones in color, you seem to know what you're doing. I can't wait to see stuff from your imagination too!

Long time no see guys, its been a week and here's some stuff. More anatomy stuff, some environment thumbnails, a cloud study and lastly a still life from observation.

Between this still life and senior activities, I didn't get a whole lot done this past week and a half. I want to do another still life though I think, and maybe speed paint one of those thumbnails.

    @otherscape - Thanks!

Here's Friday-Sunday. Feeling like my work volume isn't enough at this point. Been idling on Minecraft too long this weekend (I built a lot of cool stuff that got my imagination going, but drawing would have been a better use of that time).

The sketches are out of order. I did some Loomis Fun with a Pencil, some Hampton stuff, a little Vilppu and some 1 min, 3 min and 5-10 min gestures / studies of eyes, noses and a few lips here and there. Trying to get a grasp of the head right now.

I've also got two more still lives. I need to start pushing my value range and saturation a little higher. My apple could use some brightness, and the ipod lacks any clear saturation.

It's been a while since the last update. I've been occupied with school & senior activity crap, and my time has finally cleared up some. Not a whole lot done lately because of that though. I've got some poses and a still life that I couldn't bring myself to finish.

I think I've been holding back from doing imaginative stuff lately because I'm afraid that the finished piece will be terrible. However, obviously I can never change that until I go ahead and accept the failure and work to improve. I'm going to start trying to apply my studies to imaginative work now, screw comfort zones.

Poses today, lot's of poses. 112 Total. 20 on Saturday (was busy most of Saturday unfortunately). 92 on Sunday, 100-112 from imagination / very little reference. Might update with some other stuff later tonight depending on what gets done.

And yes, it's a big post. (Never mind, I've condensed it. )

Few diagrams and words, and some poses using that new muscle knowledge. One from imagination as well (The coffee stained one).

A skin color study, some poses and a painted person.

Finally, some skulls and two alien portraits. Skulls marked with an "I" are from imagination. Trying to put heads on these bodies today made me realize that I need to A: Draw more heads and B: Understand the skull.

I also found that C: I'm still not putting out as much work as I would like to. That should change though next week, it's summer time.

I know it's been a while since my last post, but the good news is that I was still drawing, lots. I'll post the stuff from this last week over the next few days.

100 heads in graphite. Still not looking too good so I'll probably end up doing 100 more.

Damn, this uploader is getting really annoying. It takes so long to make a post that sometimes I feel like not doing it. Scan, then resize and adjust each one, and then I've got to individually upload each one and put the info in. Sigh...

Ranting aside, over the last few days, I've also done 100 gestures. I repeated some of them since I don't have a whole lot of action poses. I feel like most of them are pretty terrible though, some of the pen ones are okay, not good though. I should probably do another 100 and really focus in on capturing the movement that Vilppu talks about. And here's yesterday's self portrait too, which I'll try to make daily. Pretty bad, I got the width of my head way off as well as the height I think.

Didn't do very much today volume wise. I took longer on the character than expected since it's my first one. I felt like it was going somewhere and that I could detail it out, but I just couldn't figure it out. I'll try another character later. Gotta just keep pushing those comfort zones.

Worked more on faces and head construction today. A little bit of everything, but I finally figured out how to work with the "Loomis Ball" method. I had been lining up the landmarks to the ball wrong. Finally realized that the brow corner is extended forwards, off of the edge of the ellipse edge. Still got a long ways to go though before my faces are looking nice. Also did Reilly method studies today and applied it to self portrait Day 4.

P.S. I have a feeling that the gigantic strings of sketchbook scans are getting annoying, so I compiled all my scans for the day into a single image.

P.S.S They were still too big so I've made them even smaller

Some environment stuff. I did some sketching today, but nothing substantial and I'm too lazy to scan it right now. Watched Battle: Los Angeles today and got some epic screen caps which I'll do some studies of. The bottom two environments are speed paints using palettes taken from screen caps.

More sketching. Really struggling with heads still right now. I've done a lot of work from Loomis & Hampton on drawing heads, but mine never turn out very good at all. Anybody have good references for head construction?
