UCT thank you! Yes, you are right. Violins are evil. Your design is really cool! I love the idea of toxic gases.

Bjulvar thanks! I´m quite satisfied with the face, but the more I look at it, the more I think there´s something wrong with it. I´ll have to figure out what it is.

So, working more on the whole thing. The violin is so hard. And it looks kind of small (?). Until I get it right I´m not going to turn it into a weapon, that gives me time for thinking, I guess.
    Great work everybody!

Lagarto: I like the pose, however that violin is small, up the size of the violin and open up that arm a little

Just umm, my first attempt at a CHOW. Got to work in the dystopian element and convert the instrument. Plenty of time to go

    Some quick crits and comments:

Chi Yo: Looks promising. I'm curious what's her instrument is though.

Lagarto: The violin's shaping up good, although it's still a bit too small (as chi yo said) and I think her hair looks too tidy, unlike her wind blown scarf.

Kliest: Ooooh i like it! Nice sketch! Can't wait to see it coloured. Honestly, I'm very itchy to colour it myself Well done!

28thwing: Liking the contrast provided by the "ink". Really good concept as well.

Bjulvar - I think his right hand needs some correction, I'm quite positive it needs a bit of foreshortening, for example, his right shoulder needs to backen up a bit and behind the instrument. Other than that, good work on the costume. I like it

PlasmaErnst: Aw... look how he smoke with delight! I really like how simplistic your character is. A punk rocker with a guitar that is also a spiked crushing weapon! Good job

Kaminski: A boombox still isn't an instument, imo Or is he perhaps, a beatboxer? Anyway, I like his outfit though, especially how, in latest thumbs, his mask made him looks a bit like a sneering gorilla, potentially very provocative!

UCT: Thanks for the comment. I'll look and fix the legs and head. As with your piece, I like how serene (and almost sad) he plays his instrument. I can imagine he's a follower of some death-worshipping bardic cult Anyway, good job! and I'm rather curious to see some other weapons sketches you mentioned.

Blazing: You could perhaps widen his shoulder to balance the neck a bit more. I like the cool expression on his face

Duke: I really like his weapon, a "harp-bow" and arrow (or perhaps multiple arrows at once?) I can imagine some neat fight scenes already

lancer: good sketch, love his monkey! but... i can't see his weapon/instrument. Is he a rapper?

JanJager: always so fast and it's looking good already! So, ... is it a "gun-tar" he's carrying? just curious

mcreation: I like his pose, good job. It's a good concept overall, but i'm not sure if a sound from a trumpet can contribute well to a sniper rifle? (like, ta-daaaa! and the target's dead? ) It's kinda ruin the sniping mood, no? :p Well, it can be funny, although the character is just too serious looking to be funny, imo. Well, it's just a thought, not meaning to offence

VictorQ: Looking so good! I like the poppish feel from his outfit, especially his mickey hat

Tomercs: Nice! I like the bionic touch on your character It correlates well with your cyber-punk concept. Keep rocking! oh and thanks for your comment

    ---

So this is my character sheet, I'm not satisfied with how his face looks like here, i'll work on that later. Also, I probably have to add some more details to explain things like how he shoot his keytar and what-not, but I think it'll suffice for me to work on the character illustration again.

I would love to hear crits, opinions or ideas

Great job everyone and keep it up!

    Looking good, everyone.

Here's what I got so far. I might put some more time into it tomorrow morning, but I'm not sure I'll be able to submit the final. I'll be hiking and camping this weekend, starting tomorrow afternoon. Anyway, this was fun.

Witcracker no offense taken, thanks for the critique, is just anouncing one death from distance, he uses a sniper, not to be silent, but to kill from distance, and i think for now, altough he has a scope, it looks more like a machine gun, because of the whole size, so maybe he can control the rate of fire to his needs. hehe
to my mind came the image of him playing the trumpet, and suddenly some officers attack, and he just unfolds the weapon, and shoots them, the scope and laser is just a optimal thing for him! but thank you very much for your critique

Mcreation - tripple post there, friend

I've decided to stop mucking about, so here's a wasteland bard.
If they regularly have to fend off anti-music forces, you're gonna need more than just sword-maracas and Gatling-flutes. Thus, the short-range artillery mortar-drum is born.
    That's a mask btw.

    Fuuuck!
    Kahel, I didn't realise you'd already started on a drum-cannon.

So Im going to critque/give people pats on the back lol.

For thos of you I didn't get to sorry.

Lagarto-I don't really feel the background idk just my thoughts.

witcrack-I like the feel of your character especially because I could see him kicking a door down and start firing all crazy like.

Jaik-I think if u change the color of her hat her hair might pop more and maybe adding some gilding on the harp it might make it pop but that's just my take nothing wrong with how it is now can't wait to se it finished.

Ex Nihilo-I really like it but her face looks too nice for her to go up and incinerate people.(maybe cause she isn't currently burning someone to death)

chuchuan-i like the 4th one(torso with shoulder strap) and the stripe on the 5th ones scarf I like how the tails(?) of the scarf are blowing in the wind as well.

lancer idenoure-I like it especially the driver he must love hearing music and guns blazing.(frontal pew made me laugh)

marko markovik-I like his expression and everything I'm just not sure what his weapon is.

lancer: Yeah, I too am not sure if it follows the brief... but hey, it's a fun fun concept! "Frontal pew" is winning it! Hahaha - EDIT: Just realized that it's a DJ set? i think it fits the brief quite well
    mcreation: Cool!

    ---

So, I've done some slight changes to the illustration based on the character sheet (I realized better now, the importance of the sheet toward the designing process ... thank you CHOW ), I also inked it, add some tones and ... RED KEYTAR! *I don't know why i got so excited about that*

*note to self: must resist to add background, at least until I'm satisfied with the character's colour. I'm trying to be a bit methodical and effective here, 'cuz I'll be busy doing other things tomorrow.

Seth-D-Forbes I still have to work on it, I wanted to center on the character first.

onether update! I´m so glad we have an extra day, because these past days have been terrible time-wise. Still need to work on the violin (have some concepts on paper, I´ll have to scan them), the boots, and the background

There was a great Pixar short a while back, with two dueling "one man bands", fighting over a little girls tip. It's amazing how far Disney/Pixar has come visually since then, yet they still have the same basic recipe for success, which is to tell a great story.

I haven't had the time to see Brave yet, but I'm hoping it's just as compelling... and very Scottish.

The keytar!... witcrack, that shit is gold. He needs to shoot rainbows and robot puppies out of it.

This is Bart, he's wasted, and has patented a banjo holster called a bolster.
