The attachment manager seems to be down on the whole site, started sometime earlier in the day, we'll just have to wait for it to come back, but in the meantime IMG posts are still working so upload from photobucket, etc, until the attachment manager is running again....

flame: cool !! i like the idea and shape at the right side of the frame, its really interesting!

warburton: liked the idea of brick wall, but i was thinking of it to be more organic, more naturally made, the gate is made out of the shell with iconic shapes, try interesting sape for the gate too, cool stuff,

rob_powel: nice texture study, will be help full to us as well

sorry guys for not updating in a last couple of days, things are really busy at my office i have exciting ideas will put it on canvas,

    Thanks Sony,

I'm going to try to do a more dynamic frame, maybe cut out some of the blank mountain space and really focus on the Shrine part.

If we're doing enviros how do we want to share these? We can get a shared site, like 4share or do something like Dropbox...what do you guys think? That way we can share the PSD files.

Will work more tonight on the enviro.

Flame_Unquenchable Cool environment dude, the shell structure thing looks promising. It still looks abit beak and the moons seem to feel abit out of place, but the initial sketch looks good. If i get chance i might work abit into it.

sony Your crit is noted, and i agree. I'll try some other stuff out.

I thought i'd spam some inages i pulled off google for inspiration on the topic at hand.

and some lame thing which is missing any real design and stuff discussed =S

weekends on its way, which means 2 solid days of drawing

oh look what I found just lying around...
just a few quick slaps of paint here and there...nothing major, just boosted some contrast a bit, as well as added some cast shadows that were missing, the composition needs some major tweaks however, some of the pillars(?) seem a bit awkwardly placed, especially that central one that stands straight up...I'll be back later to try to make some adjustments (I may even start fresh from a more dynamic angle as well) but for now a quick little paint over...

P.S. warburton I may steal (I mean borrow hehe) your last enviro as well, so if you have any psd files that be great! or at least higher res images if done on one layer...

cool progress guy awesome collaborations, this is really cool,

I have two days off now, will upload a lot of stuff in a while, i still think the tomb needs to have some sort of fossil-y feel to it, some painted remade structure or some thing more organic and aged, colors palette is cool, color values are very tight though need more contrast as the scale for the shrine is so big,

    moodboard numero 3!!

been leaning a slight ways away from exclusivly 'sea shells' and incorporating other fossils, especially trilobites...gives us a little more freedom for interesting designs I think...also a Feng Zhu painting came to mind, as well as the Easter Island heads for some strange reason....

I was getting stuck with the whole scene/area , tried a tighter angle and kinda closup of the shrine, its basic structure but layout by yuliari people, the sun dawns at the back of the shrine center. They pray to their guardian here!

sony sweet thumbs! The shrine structure looks prity interesting. I like the mood in the colour thumbs too.

rob powell The fossils look promising, i think some patterns and shapes worked into structures and maybe even the guardians armour or weapons could work well.

flame You probably have a beter idea than me when it comes to environments, and my composition knowledge kinda sucks too. ;p Two of the many things i need to improve on.

Bedtime sketch getting a feel for things, i had this vision in my head of the guardian busting out of his hibernation with all the yuliari preying, him picking up a spear and making his way to the secret chamber where all his cool shit is left in storage, where nobody can reach it but him. What that cool shit is i have no idea, i'll leave that idea with you guys ;p

I started painting this thing too!
Thought the sun going down directly behind it would be pretty dynamic lighting. Trying to push myself to explore more demanding scenarios.

...I will continue to work on this idea and try to incorporate ballistics weaponry also...

...also I posted some guardian head and body templates in dropbox, don't feel limited to the number of templates and proportions, feel free to change things how you see fit, just get those ideas in! I've started working on mine, and I'll try to post them tomorrow night!

Sweet stuff guys, did quick armour/silhouette ideas with your templates Rob.
Trying to stay with the general look and feel of Sonys kickass environment. 1, is a kinda slow paced but heavy armour dude, almost like a golum/titan. 2 is more tribal, athletic type, almost like a navi of avatar. 3, is abit inbetween.

I'll get a few more hours in every night this week at this, any preference on what you guys want me to do? I can do more of these? or render abit more detail into them? or environments? props? I'm prity easy atm

well it's getting close to our makeshift deadline for our environment...
and I've done barely f#ck all!!!

I also think that the enviros we've done thus far may be more secondary...

so... here's a couple thumbsI've done, for our enviroment, I feel like we need to showcase the village/city of the yuliari as well as a good view of the shrine/mountain/place of worship/home or tomb of the guardian/etc...these were loosely based on sony's initial enviro sketches, they are basically opposite's since one is a view from above while the other is from near the ground, either one of these angles would work I think, although I like number 2 better since it helps to show the scale of the mountain as well as shows the yuliari within their village...notice I pushed the idea of fossils within their environment quite a bit lots of spikes and bones and shells and whatnot, although it is fairly rough still so it's a little harder to tell at this point....
    Name: yulium thumb sketches.jpg
Views: 211
Size: 335.6 KB

btw warburton really cool guardian sketches...I'm liking 1 the best cept for the horns...2 looks interesting as well, though I'm not sure about the spear...

...also I have this idea for our creature...perhaps the guardian will have some kind of scout creature(s) that will summon it from it's dormancy when the homeland is threatened...just a thought, the churian idea seems cool but no confirmation on using a hostile force for the creature has been made yet...and this idea is a bit more on topic than the churians. Although they could still be used somehow in our final submission...I will draw up some ideas for this creature, I have a few ideas so I'll make a few thumbs...

...oh and something else that I feel needs to be addressed, WE HAVE A LATE ADDITION TO OUR LINEUP!!! Welcome to the team, RICARDO ROBLES!!!!!

Rob_powell: well said, i think we need to point the the exact amount of final pieces we need for the environment; my suggestions

1-View at the entrance of the city
    2-In the city
    to capture their life style
    3-shrine
    where they worship
    4-Ariel view of the yulium
    lets say from the mountains

    on your thumbnails
I like the idea of pushing the spikes but they seems too much to me, may be just a little subtle amount, creating a scout creature is a cool idea, lets focus of it and will do rough motion blur figures of Churians in final illustration then

weapon sketches, i am not liking the colors too much but any way just a share, thoughts????

    and welcome to RICARDO ROBLES!!!!!!!!
