I am going to keep a copy in here, so people can view my progression in the future. I feal pretty good about this painting over some paintings I done in the past, I think the studing has been a big help so I will do some more.

Hey man. You have a really nice book going. Keep up with those studies.
Stryno: Your analogy about the eyeball is pretty dead on. And thats exactly what I am wanting to drill day after day out of me. I have been drawing off and on since 13/ Being 25 years old now I figure I have years of drawing COMPLETELY wrong that I need to really change. And drawing what I think I see is THE main one.
Right now I am trying to refocus myself on fundamentals all over again to try and retrain my eye, brain, and hands to draw correctly. Thank you for that advice man. I will be constantly thinking of that for sure.
Thanks, Pete, and I hope I was of some help.
Of course I am still studying, doing some basic perspective stuff here, nothing to original, but I was working on some refreshers, I see a few more holes in my art that I need to work on. Sometimes practiceing simple concepts, will remind you that they are not always so simple, and you might not know, what you think you know about them. Sorry about my rendering back slideI had a hard time takeing my time when doing the bottom left one, so I rushed it.

Continuing with Practices, If I want to get better I need to work on all the Fundimentals. Working with Loomis.
EDIT- Dang it I can see now were I worked of the wrong side of a center line.Ok I fixed it in the next image, but Ill keep both up.

and more Bridgman... I have been doing some gesture drawing, but forgive me if I don't post them. Only after scanning the sketches did I see that two of them were related, LOL so I made one red and one blue and overlaid them in the proportionality in which they were drawn, though one had to be scaled up evenly to make them fit, and no they don't fit perfect but I thought it was neat.

Sorry to hear, but on a positive note, you're still posting! Hurray for optimism and persistence! Good start to your study with the different values, although I would opt to choose a larger brush instead of smaller ones - More is less. This would make it look a little less messy and provide better clarity. Keep playing.

So I fixed some anatomy issues and started painting one of my drawings from today. I have very little experiences with painting skin tones, color and lighting also need work, advice and crits would be of some help!. Currently I am not sure if I want to call it a work in progress, done, or quits.

My advice is to stay away from greys, human skin tends to saturate when it's in shadow. The greys are killing all the life in her face, and frankly making her look a little undead. You are making progress though, so keep it up.![]()

Thanks Psychobuddy.
Take 2
The forms are looking more solid I must say, not near as sloppy as some of my other work.

good to have u here m8 keep it you have some interesting ideas
Hopefully as I improve you will see more of my ideasthanks for the comments.
I revisited a drawing I had done a couple months back, and tried more skin tone practice, and overall rendering as well, the background is a doctored photo I took while I was painting it, I loved the colors of the photo and plain on using them as the finished backdrop, but for some reason I don't like the actual Photo element and would rather do it by hand filling out the background later on. As always crits welcome as of now I am working on my worst areas Lighting and Color theory.
The Sketch as can be seen larger on post 10 on the first page

So I drew this in April of last year, but as for its quality it could have been 3 months ago. After this short time of study, I decided to revisit the picture.
Originally I done this picture from imagination so I wanted to keep it that way, it also would have been easier for me to redo it all together start to finish, but I thought I would try to "fix it". It took me longer then if I would have restarted, but I think I learned more from painting over it. I also wouldn't call it finished, but for now I am done with it, I am pleased with my improvements, and I am very excited of things to come, but as always crits are welcomed.

Great stuff man! Your anatomy is looking good. Are they from Hogarth?
Welcome back Pete, I see you are working hard in your sketchbook, I have viewed it ,but you are moving to fast for me to keep up. Your SB is blowing Up
. Yeah Bridgman and Hogarth. I find Bridgman is great for showing Volumes and Hogarth is good at fluid motion of the Muscles. Bridgman helps me Block in, were Hogarth helps with the Actual Individual Muscles.
Here is more Hogarth.
