Has anyone else seen Michael Hussar's post about him doing a work shop in Feb in Florence? I think it would be amazing to do, he's an incredible artist.
Hi guys! Nice to come across this thread. I have a couple of questions for the other Brits here.
1) Are there ever any CA meets in the north of England? (flipping quickly through here, I've seen some mentioned in London, but I'm about as far from London as you can get without being in Scotland).
2) Do any of you know of any workshops anywhere in the UK in the field of concept art/illustration, either in digital or traditional media? There seem to be plenty of these in the US run by industry professionals but I'm having trouble finding anything similar here, and I'd love to spend a few days with someone who is actually an active concept artist or illustrator in the fantasy/sci-fi/the-kind-of-stuff-on-CA genre.
Cheers!
Birkeley.
Contact address is Dundee.

Birkeley and NyeAlexandaFrayne, I live up North near Manchester too, it would be rad to hang out and do some drawings sometime.
I'm in the Manchester area also. It would be good to get something organised. I'm free most days so i have no excuse!
Anyone live in kent area? everyone seems to always be up north :/
I'm in East Sussex, right on the Kent border. But I keep failing my stupid practical driving test, so I'm not mobile.
I was once on the receiving end of a critique so savagely nasty, I marched straight out of class to the office and changed my major (sketchbook).
Hey, i will be in the the Newcastle area from 31 st of march and forward, is there any group running there already? if not i could start something up if there's some people who are up for it

Anyone free for a Manchester meet up?
Hi folks, I'm from Norwich but don't have webbed toes or fancy my cousin. Hence I'm not a native.

Hey all!
A friend of mine is helping to organize an digital art exhibition and I'd thought I would spread the word here as it might be of interest. There is a call for entries so do go ahead and take part and submit something if you fancy a shot at winning the number of cash prizes. Heres more details I got from them.
We were wondering if you'd be interested in entering your work to the world's first competition for the very best fine art created digitally.
We're offering cash prizes of US$5000 in a juried contest and a place on our website for every single entrant for a further competition to be settled by an open, public vote. All 50 shortlisted works and the 4 Lumen winners will form the heart of a travelling exhibition that will move from London, Berlin, Riga, Hong Kong and Shanghai, with more location to be confirmed soon, starting in January 2013.
Call for Entries is now open and we are accepting both 2D and time-based work.
Thanks,
The Lumen Prize Team

I just stumbled across this thread. I'm from Glasgow, or Dundee (during term time).
Anyone fancy going out for a sketch and drink? I work at Chunk Digital atm btw.

Blog - Check it out. It's fun.
Sketchbook - I should really update more often.
Portfolio - The most fun of them all.
I'm running a weekly class in Highgate, north London starting on 29th Sept 2pm - £25 for 3 hours - very easy to get to, opposite Highgate tube station on the northern line. I'm aiming to cover traditional drawing and oil-painting skills, with an emphasis on materials, and including an introduction to using Munsell for colour identification and matching - if you are interested, please PM me.

is anyone in torquay?im moving there for the forseeable future in about 2 weeks time, will know noone down there so would be great to meet some fellow ca`ers!
Hello Everyone!
WOW. the new CA is...bright! how is everyone?
Its been for ever since I was here, and it's so nice to see the thread is still going!

I must give the UK much respect. Why, just a few short years ago, Seattle and the UK were battling to be the most vibrant CA.org local group, and you have proven to be the most staunch; weathering time quite well.
Well done!

I'll be starting at london atelier of representational art on Monday. Looking forward to seeing any CAers that might be attending the courses or Wednesday life drawing sessions!
Hi everyone! I'm new in the forum.....I live in London and I do 3d models and I just started doing concept art. I'd like some help from experienced concept artists. It would be great meeting with you guys somewhere in London, having a cup of coffe, sharing some tips and who knows maybe start some small project together.
