You're getting pretty good at environments and armor design, but one thing that sticks out that really needs improvement is your flesh and hair. It doesn't help anything that you seem to be painting every single hair cluster, creating an area of semi-vertical lines that draw a lot of attention to themselves. Lower the contrast, lose most of the internal edges, and do some life/photo studies or master copies. You also need to spend some more time on your faces, both with anatomy and rendering flesh in general.

I've attached a quick paint-over to give some idea of what I mean, though you may want to go for something less stylized.

Thanks for the advice. Will do..or at least I'll be trying.

Truth be told, I uh...kind of fail at all areas still. But definitely need more studies~

    Here's a matte painting I'm working on..

Wow man, great stuff! the texturing on that armor is great!

Also, I think more color would do justice to the sky on that dragon illustration. The black seems too unnatural and kind of kills it. even an incredibly dark but saturated blue could work.

Congrats on that urban setting one, the simplicity of it is great considering youve conveyed so much content matter in it...amazing! Keep working hard, this SB is nice

    Thanks man! : )

Hmmm, I get your point. Perhaps I'll add a little color to it later.

    I will do my best!

And thanks for dropping by! It's kind of lonely in my thread...

    Here's a tank study I finished.

I like your tank study, I think it's one of the strongest paintings you have here. I like that you didn't over-render it, and it looks very solid.

SmallPoly had a good tip about painting hair too.

    Thank you kindly.

Hmm perhaps you're right, sometimes I was using too many textures. But...we were using those in the past few classes so it couldn'T be helped. I'll be trying to concentrate on the composition and use of brushes better in the future.

And here's a quick mech concept.

    Very cool sketchbook.
Looks like you're starting to get the hang of this.
I'd like to see more studies and more dynamic poses for the human characters. Even those that are in motion like post #19, #66, #81 (third guy) seem... stiff?
mm, maybe 81's pretty good... still, something about the legs is odd.
    Best of luck!

    Thanks mate!

That will be my next picture in my study series. I totally ignored humans these past few weeks and I totally suck at painting them. Aye, he is stiff...although only a month ago...I already feel it's really old and crappy.

    Here's a frog study.

Yeah, he's an awesome concept artist. But I decided to only study a few of his works, then leave that style. I don't want to become an imitation of someone...rather having my own style and such.

And now another little mech I painted. The Red Wolf.

    Nice sketchbook Peter!

I started browsing in your sketchbook and was quickly warming up to how you use your brushstrokes to sketch your work. For example your interior of post #17. Somehow sports a comicbook feeling to it as well.

Your characters are developing really well. Post 94 is great! Nice detailing on the armor and boots. One point of critique: The headpiece doesn't fit well on her head. It looks more like it's coming out the back of her head.

Nice black and white drawings as well. Keep doing them! Keep up all the good work my man!

It always feel great when a new person visits my little crappy book.

Hehe, really? Never thought about that before.

Ahh I see, I'll add that to the mistakes list and will paint over it laters. Thanks for the advice!

I'll try my friend! And nice sketchbook you've got also. I'll drop in once I have time!

And a little portrait of my character, Lucetta.

Hey, looks like you're very good at drawing armors, mechs and such, looks great.

I love the girl from post #114, looks superb, maybe u could only polish a little bit the armor and the cape, would fit the face more.

    Keep it up, man!

And I have to thank all the people who gave me critiques on Beatrix.

I've repainted her face as you mentioned and tweaked some tiny bits also.
