A recent fantasy painting

This is a piece I have been working on recently that I would like to get some opinions on. I am open to any suggestions or ideas you guys might have for the piece.

What is this painted with? It has a very strange fuzziness to it.

Overall, you need to practice your drawing before you can do a painting like this. You'll need reference for your figures. His pose is not convincing at all and looks completely faked. Practice your drawing.

Artfix- Thanks for the feedback. It is painted in gouache, the fuzziness is probably my fault I am away from home at current so it is a photograph, and not a scan. You are right the pose is stiff, awkward and could have been much improved upon. I will endeavor to make better use of reference in the future.

Also think about the scene, the environment looks like it's some Australian desert, but the red leather with the fur outlines makes me think of Santa Claus, and the elk horns are not helping either.
