Microsoft has a new tablet. It looks a'ight thus far. If it has Wacom support I'm on it. If not, I'll just have to wait. I'm guessing it's designed for content consumption, not content creation. It is a tablet after all. But from what I read it runs Windows 8 (a real OS) so it might actually function like a real computer and run real programs, not just aps. There's speculation that it has enough horsepower to run current games.

If there is an existing tablet that supports wacom, please drop some knowledge.

Microsoft RT will probably be expensive looking at the reports. But may be cheaper than the Slate because I think that was at 1000 dollars

I've been searching all day for more info on this tablet.
I remember one report saying that the first release won't feature a stylus.
though the 2nd gen will.
that's all it said, unfortunitly no word on whether or not the stylus would feature sensitivity.

I'm guessing if it was a wacom stylus they would say so. FFWD to 11:00 to see the stylus. It looks a bit off brand.

But one thing is they could reverse engineer an intuos with this tech. ffwrd to 4:30 and you'll see what I'm talking about. Maybe you can cut to the chase and just plug in your intuos, since it runs windows.

Luckily I knew somebody that bought an EP 121. The tablet shoe laces, overheats and has a short battery life.

Gizmodo says that the pro version has a pressure sensitive pen, responsiveness looks pretty good from the video.
Would anyone know if this is likely to have the grunt to run programs like zbrush? If yes, then I'm severely tempted.

I read a bunch of articles on this thing earlier today. If I remember correctly there are currently two versions planned:

The first one will be an RT version that will be a little smaller and lighter that will have a phone style processor like the ipad and most android tablets. Not much info has been confirmed but it is expected to come out with Windows 8 in the fall and be cost competitive with the iPad (so around $500). I don't think this one is intended to have pen support.

The Pro version is the one that has me slightly aroused. It will be slightly larger and heavier (2lbs instead of 1.5 for the RT). Like the RT it has a 10.6in display (ipad has a 9.7in display). The important thing is that it runs a full version of Windows 8 and should be able to run full programs, not just Apps. Also it has pen support that appears to be pressure sensitive (I don't know if it will have the full on Wacom treatment). This one is expected to have pricing and specs similar to ultrabooks (expect to pay around $1000-1200). From what I've gathered though, this one won't be available until a few months after the initial release of Windows 8, hopefully I can buy myself one for Christmas.

I also think its pretty damn cool that Microsoft is taking direct control over this thing. I think seeing the lackluster selection of Android Tablets that have been pumped out over the last couple years pretty much forced their hand.

Hopefully this will have Xbox-like success, and not end up an embarrassing failure like the Kin or Zune.

The pro version will have the i5 cpu. I can't find anything about the gpu (I expect it to be integrated) or RAM. Can't really say until the full specs come out. Looks like it will be the Pro version or bust either way.

It will be great tablet if you dump win 8.. I gave the OS a chance tested it and it just not going to work.. win7 should work find.. It going to be pricey and i going to bet hot as well.. but time will tell .. More tablets more choices.. Let see at lease one that had good Wacon tech in it.. ..

I and a few others on CA have the Samsung Slate, and I for one will never go back to a laptop or Android/Ios systems. "Flicks" is awesome. Im running Win 7 for now,waiting for the proper release of Win 8. I absolutely love it, and it has Wacom tech with 256 levels of pressure sens. Im sure its not enough for you digital painters, but it fits my needs perfectly,which is light photo retouching. As for games, it has the HD 3000 so it can run Bioshock and games like that pretty damn good. About 4-5 hrs of bat life depending on how you use it. Build quality sucks though, but its not a game changer for me.

The thing id love for it is the flip case with touch.

In that video I think he says something about a magnetic charging station for the pen.
which would mean the pen has it's own power.
If that's true then the screen does not use Wacom type tech.
However, this would also mean, that one would only need to get a pen that has pressure sensitivity built into it, simple enough, and probably cheaper on the whole than trying to cram Wacom tech inside the tablet.
The only thing they didn't mention was the battery life
Depending on that. This might be the tablet I've been waiting for.

it's been a few days since announcment, still waiting on more specs, pricing, and release dates and these idiots are shouting doom and gloom.
In this article some Wanker says that to have any chance of success the RT would have to sell at the same price or less than a kindle!
FFS how can you compare the RT to a kindle? and then they say it should compete with pricing of an ipad2 ?
It's not an ipad, It's much more. I would expect it to be $100 or so more than an ipad3. because you are getting more.
as for the Pro version, well that's a full computer, don't compare it to an ipad at all Mr Anylists.
