Nice work Nele, although you could use a little more the lasso and do a bit less brush strokes while you're painting.
The sketchs are fine as usual, except the legs of the last guy, a little too long and thin I think.
Anyway keep up posting ^^

Wow, beautiful work. Love the lightness of the lines. Wenn du 'mal die Hauptstadt besuchen solltest, könnte man sich ja vielleicht zum gemeinsamen Skizzieren treffen
I could learn a lot from you. Keep it up!
Mark: Good points! Thanks. I'm not a big fan of painting with the lasso tools, doesn't feel too painterly to me, but I guess I know what the idea is about
MeteorCat: Thank you
Tamaira2011: Haha, wenn das mal vorkommen sollte, meld ich mich
I'm sorry for the lack of sketch updates! I tried to stick to updating every saturday but I was damn busy working on some finished stuff
I finally managed to paint something for the bloodsports challenge and there are also several more pieces I'm about to finish. So stay excited... whatever.
I also worked on updating my Portfolio page! It took the whole day and I didn't paint a single stroke D: But I finally got it finished and as this was on top of my list for quite some time I can now concentrate on working
So here's my bloodsports entry:
And some studies...:

Uhhh, I should really try to keep my updates regular, but my schedule is kind of chaotic right now.
I' dealing with a bit of frustration again. So you know the feeling when you notice that you forgot stuff you're sure you already knew? I hate itAnyways, I think I'm gonna relax a bit, as I was stressing myself out a little too much.
This weekend I'm going to be in Munich for a good friend's wedding and the weekend after that I'll be at the RPC in Cologne stalking other peopleReally looking forward to that and hope that frustration might go away eventually.
So here comes the update!
SCS:
Church study
Photostudies: I really struggle with painitng clouds these days, and I don't know what to do about itAlready studying a lot of them but I didn'T really find out yet
Lifestudies
And some already kind of old illustration sI did for the "Aventurischer Bote".

Cheers!
Nice work. Your studies look pretty sharp. Though, all of this work seems very much in your comfort zone. Try reaching out a bit with some less default balanced color schemes or play with some unexpected components in your character design or composition.
Awesome update.
Try using the Mixer brush tool (it has oil/charcoal/water colours qualities and options) in CS5. It really helped me do clouds![]()

Nice studies your improvement is really showing, keep up the hard work. Might be worth searching 'greg pro' on the forums his paintovers will really help you improveFor example http://www.gregpro.com/forums/Concep...aintover01.jpg
great studies love your stuff

Yes people, I'm still alifeJust kinda busy
Wohooo This thread has over 1000 posts now o______o that's kind of awesome, didn't expect to keep updating this that long. Have a cake!
jedininjaman: thank you. I curretnly feel like nothing is in my comfort zone, because I struggle with everything I try, but I'll keep your advice in mind
MeteorCat: I'm working with PS 3, but thanks for the hintLooking forward to upgrading to cs6
Scriar: Oh thanks for the hint! I only saw the OP on the edges, but didn't know there were more. Awesome!
Qikalain: thanks
And here are some finished scenes I did for Ulisses Spiele
And some more pencil sketches too! These were lots of fun! I acutally drew the first ones just before the Role Play Convention and the last ones after that. I gathered a lot of information about armour and what more details you can put on yout characters outfits. So those are pretty much stuffed with... stuff

Awesome sketchbook! I enjoyed going through it.
Beautiful character design, there is so much attention to detail and the anatomy is fantastic.
Keep up the good work!

very nice updates, love the sketches

MeteorCat: Just keep practicing and you'll get there
MilesE, Rustveld, lancer_idenoure, ezekrialase: Thanks a lot guys
Oh well, I should really keep this blog updated. I got so much work to do I hardly have time to upload or scan anythingI'll show more work when it's published
Okay, so first there's an Art Test I did for Pathfinder of their character Seoni
And here are a few more character sketches I did in the train:
And a study.. one that I finished at least, I recently got the bad habit of starting my studies and never finishing themAlso didn'T do any Screencap Studies recently, but I think I will replace those with more landscape studies as I really need to get better doing environments. So hopefully you'll see more of that stuff soon.

I had just wrote something but I don't know why it didn't show up :/
Anyway I was just saying that it's really great to see you progress each post.
And you definitely are getting awesome at fantasy characters !
BTW I just opened a folder of your work in my inspiration artist database ^^
Great stuff Nele! It's great to see you got the chance to do an art test for pathfinder. Good to see you're still going with the character sketches, thanks for reminding me that's something I need to do more of myself.
The various game / card art and studies are lookign better with every post! Keep up the great work!
Super Sachen Nele, wirst immer besser!![]()
What wonderful update Nele! It's been too long.
I really enjoyed these new characters and I'm a huge fan of the fox. The painting of that cute feline turned out so gentle & soft. I'd say the right ear and eye (our right) is absolutely fantastic.

really really nice going through these last pictures. the seoni character picture is amazing!
as are the studies.
some small comments:
on scs#87, just a little bit of skin texture might help it look less plastic
anyway, really inspiring, thanks for sharing.
Gnah, I just love your strokes so much... the bathtub-pic is probably one one of my favs on this page![]()
Tolle Studien und Illus!

Mark: Thank you so much! You are a huge inspiration for me and I feel very flattered you actually use my work as inpiration too
Mac: Didn't get any reply yet, but We'll seeThank you
Fetsch: Dankeeeee
MeteorCat: Thank you! But did you know: the fox actually doesn't belong to the feline family but to the Canidae family? I didn't know before I did the research for the study
aks9: thanks a lot
Steffen: Thank you, seems I finally get used to my pencils
Infinit: dankeschön
No studies this week, I'm still struggling with a specific environment study D:
But I got finished work to show!
This is the first personal piece that I didn't draw for any challange for... I think over 3 years? Only done contest work or work-work.
It took some time to finish, I changed the whole picture quite a bit during the whole process and kept working on it whenever I had time between commissioned work. And now I think it's done.
More work is in progress

Wow, I could actually do some studies this week! Got some more work in progress but first and foremost I gotta try to understand how to paint landscapes!
This weekend I could actually do my first digital plein air painting. I went to my mother's house to paint in the garden where I could have a little privacy. But as it turned out the price of being in a comfortable garden is the lack of a nice site. But it was got to have a test run to see what kind of equipment I'd need when I really get outside to paint. Just bought an umbrella (That's actually supposed to be put on a baby buggy), a camping chair and a coupling plate for my tripod. Going to build something on my own so I can use my tabletI'll post photos when I'm finished
So here's the outcome! Colours look pretty much different, as I had a lot of reflectinglight on my tablet. Composition kinda sucks too... all stuff I need to get better next time
And some studies from photos too. (I need to practice mooore D![]()

I don't know what Infinite wrote, but yea the character has got some anatomical issues, and the pose isn't natural at all :/ I think you should do a little more of male anatomy studies, you are already good enough with girls, now go on your weaknesses![]()
super awesome studies
ive been doing a little bit of "plein art digital painting" in my garden also, and was wondering how i could set it up to be able to do it without a table. you mentioned a tripod, does it have a laptop mount? please do post the pictures!
my dream is to have a mount i can put in my backpack with the laptop and tablet, and go cycling around the countryside, stopping to do some digital studies here and there
and finally that last personal piece is awesome! you can really see how much work went into it. wow, congrats on thatand really great work on rendering out the young woman.
Cool stuff, Nele!
I like how you improved the diversity of the faces you draw and I also really enjoy the grayscale environment studies. I so need to study more.
I still have some issues with some of the poses of your characters. Oh, no, wait. I don't. I just scrolled up a little more and I see it looks, on average, a lot better too. So yeah.
Anyways, I wanted to offer my feedback and let you know that I'm still watching you. In a not completely creepy way. I just don't post here much these days, but I see your stuff on facebook and your blog, and I discovered DA recently.
Okay, that's about it. I think I'm rambling a bit.
Take care!
It doesn't cost You much to leave a comment in my sketchbook, and it can help me a lot.

Thought it was time for another update. I don't really know what to say. Had a one of those "I can't draw, I'll never get good" weeks, and try to recover. So I'll just drop this here and go on painting :3 Lalaallalala *sigh*
Infinit, Markus: Oh man, you guys killed me! *lol* I just uploaded a picture I worked on for months and noone says a thing about it, and you pick one of my stupid sketches I even didn't want to upload at first because I thought the pose looked awkward... Gruargh... Anyways, you learn from your mistakes, don't you? So thanks anyways![]()
Also I think my anatomy skills need work in both genders. The perspective problem is not specifically male, but my female figures also got this problem. So I'll keep working on both. You can never know enough anatomy, can you? T_T Hmnahhhh
aks9: I already bought some of my supplies, but I'm still missing one piece so I can start building up my construction. The waether sucks anyway at the momentBut I'll post a tutorial on how I built my plein air construction as soon as I get to build it, promised
Not sure though, if it will be the right thing for you. It will be still some stuff to carry around so I don't know if it's comfortable for a hike.
Rafal: Uh, I got a stalkerHaha.
And yep, my poses need work, and I'm still practicing. I'm sorry they don't look better, I honestly wish they would, but what can I do about it besides keeping up the studies?Maybe I'm just too stupid? I don't know... D:
This actually was a little study I did following a tutorial out of a painting book on acrylics. It has this cheesy colour look to it. Just add unicorns and a waterfall.. don't really like it. Not an approach I will be following...
And a quicker SCS... wow, yes, I keep doing them once in a while. First on kinda "finished" since motnhs...
