    Newest stuff on last page!

    Hey there!

Thought I'd want to track my process while being a member here, so I'll hopefully update this sketchbook regularly with all the kinds of stuff that I happen to extract from my mind. I'll start out with some (really) old pictures and sketches and keep going from there.

Comments and critique is very welcome!

Another practice. The reason why I'm suddenly starting to do greyscale portraits of females is because of a game poster I'm going to make for a school project. It'll be featuring this woman here, called Avery, so I need to get my anatomy and values down before doing the real thing. If you're curious as to what this is about, there's more info here: http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=241571

Quick (20mins) concept poster for a tiny game concept I had for an assignment in school. Involves a child that has run away from home and has to fight their way back through the monsters of their mind in the night. Survival horror-ish.

Practicing drawing from life. Self portraits. You can tell I haven't been drawing humans for years. Sorry for the terrible quality btw, I don't have a scanner so I can only upload stuff to the computer by shitty camera standards.

Want to draw gryphons, so I did some studies on eagles and..deer, actually. (yes, it's an eagle/deer hybrid!) Also taken with shitty camera standards.

Lumens: Thanks a lot! And yes, hopefully as soon as possible, it's a pretty new piece so I've still got a lot of inspiration for working on it.

Today's practice (referenced). Trying to understand form and color better by using bigger brushes. Might keep working on this, I quite like it. It's pretty relaxing to look at for some reason.

I loved everything in this book. HOWEVER!! I am a sucker for pokemon (Guilty pleasure) and that render of MEW-Two blew my mind ha ha. The attention to detail is astounding in your environments. Love them man.

you need to immediately look at structure of the nose, its very odd in your pieces, loved the energy in your gesture studies

Nina: Thanks! I'll think about doing more scenery in the future.

Pete: Thank you. And come on, everybody has that guilty pleasure. The critters of Pokémon are pretty fun practice for fantasy creatures actually!

sony: Thanks a lot for pointing that out! I'll remember that.

Haven't drawn dragons in ages! This is just the initial sketch of a concept of a heavier dragon, it's supposed to be more built for running/walking longer distances rather than flying which explains the bulky body structure. It's based on the mix of a crocodile and many big felines, like the lion. I'd be very interested to hear whether or not the pose is believable (or well, anything for that matter)?

More portrait practice, this time a female orc from the Elder Scrolls game Skyrim. I think I got the nose to look decent this time, but I still have big problems with lips. They just look flat whenever I draw them for some reason...

    Fishy, fishy, fishy, fish.
And it went, wherever I did go.
(Edit: Tweaked the colors slightly to give it more depth and make it less nauseating to look at.)

Really nice colors! good stuff, but i notice you lack some anatomy knowledge, and also, in the faces, most of the time the nose looks odd, i would do some studies on the skull and portraits from life

I have to wonder if these things weren't designed partly to scare the living crap out of the opponent. If this thing was moving towards me (and also carrying a huge, pointy sword) I'd shit myself.
Trying to study things that aren't organic, like metal. Also, I have a request that involves a lot of it. Suit of armor was of course the coolest option, accompanied by the soundtrack from the old NES game Wizards&Warriors.

A lot of studies lately, but got struck by nostalgia the other day so here's an attempt at an illustration inspired by Zelda: Link's Awakening, a true masterpiece of a game. Feedback is very welcome! This picture has been posted in the critiques & WIP section, check it out and give it some tough love: http://conceptart.org/forums/showthr...-Flying-whales!
