What I did for a couple of hours this morning. My task is to fill in that whole page with bones or skulls from a model Skeleton. The whole page/picture/huge sheet of paper goes into a frame once it's done.
I think it looks quite nice so far , couldn't make a proper picture but when it's finished I'll bring my camera to school.
W.I.P
Decided to do something different than studies for a change. Quite fun but the thought of trying to get the face properly is frightening for me :|
I don't know... The face is so terrible. -sigh-
the dude
WIP
decided I was too fed up with faces and went on to work on the composition I had started.
Was great fun. Semi accomplished day today , didn't really do too much.

Some horrible scans. Deeply sorry about this , next time they'll be better.
Done a bit today and the day isn't over yet. >: D

I think you're on the right path!
Be careful with that soft airbrush brush. It's not helping you right now, making shapes and colors very wishy-washy and unclear, thus showing you're not really sure about what to do.
Try instead: defining everything with a hard-edged brush. For "softer" edges, just choose a nuance/value "in between".
It is possible to achieve very convincing realism with an extremely simplified layout of colored shapes. Realism is mostly a matter of the right value (and color) in the right place, and if you get these down accurately, the image will look realistic even without detail.
Thanks Madith , and yeah I agree that it looks so wishy-washy.
Tried one of the busts again, happy with the outcome and I think i'll use this approach more often now.
Used only one brush and always with 100% opacity.
hey frankfrank! I'm liking your sketchbook so far, I see vast improvements already especially in regards to your line quality. Your environments, though unfinished and just rough sketches, show a lot a promise too. Those are from your imagination, no? In any case I think they are pretty cool. :p You are doing all the right stuff you just need to do more of it. Experiment! And draw more from life. I know you are studying the human body and faces and all that jazz at the moment but believe it or not drawing from life will teach you so much, even if you can't get a live model to draw. Also, lets see some more finished pieces! Even if halfway through you notice the proportions are off and don't feel like fixing it just finish the piece, you're learn a lot from committing to a piece of work. Okay, that's all I've got hope this helps.![]()
Thanks ^^ And yes the environments are mostly from imagination. I'm not sure why I stop halfway through... it's just the fear of using too many brushes and making the environment a clusterfuck of "details" that don't mesh well together. And at some point I just really don't know what to add. I'll try to finish the environments in the futureor redo some of the ones I've done recently.
Glad someone likes the things I do![]()
More fucking frustrating faces. So far I haven't really seen any improvement in what I do. It's so , so so so so frustrating. I just feel like burning my sketchbook and throw my pencils out of the window but then I just flip the page over and try again because I know it's pointless to get so angry.
gr. gr gr gr. girr.
I don't particularly like goats or goat cheese but it's the first thing that popped into my head. Not literally. And not the goat cheese.
Maybe i'll work on this a bit more .. also I tried a completely different approach and I'm quite happy with the outcome!
stuff from school again.
stoffs from yesterday
some quick 10 minute poses-scrobbling. I've been abandoning almost everything I started today out of utter disgust but the poses somehow relaxed me.
yay.
The poses were 30-seconds each and this is the first time I've had to do such quick sketches. Maybe next time they'll look more proper.
It's strangely fun to draw. I like how the body curves... love doing those organic lines though I still need to practice this more.
Good fun.
somefing.

Last one for today/yesterday. Time for some sleep maybe.
WIP
WICKED WERKS frankfrank AN THE ANIMALS DRAWINGS RRR RRRAAOOORRRSOME XDXDXD
You've got a pretty good start here. Keep the drawings coming and you'll do nothing but improve. I have noticed that you seem to struggle with anatomy. I would suggest picking up a copy of 'The Human Machine' by George Bridgeman - its good to get an idea of how the body is comprised and how you should think about it when drawing.
Either way, good work so far and keep the updates comin!
*New Sketchbook* Come stop by :3
*SKETCHBOOK*(old)
I am currently looking for a mentor to help me improve my sketch book. Either that or lots of crits and suggestions to help me improve my skills.
Smileface roar grawr thanks man.
Newman101 I have that Book but I still have so much difficulty with that...I guess I need to draw even more. But yeah ... thanks and I will keep updating. Every day. I have a tendency to just give up easily with facial features... it's really frustrating.
practicing . . .
Nice progress!
However, your skin tones are looking a bit muddy. I normally have the "base" skin tone, then the shadows start as a more saturated color, then darker if that makes any sense.
Great start!
Impressive animals and environments, love them all.
Keep it up~![]()
Zephyrion Thanks ^^ I try to keep the ball rolling and yeah the skin tones... I don't ever know how to start on those so I use a soft brush and just try to somehow squeeze in some realism or some proper shading... I try
Morningtea Thanks a lot ^^
I watched Feng Zhu's recent video about Chaos and Order or something like that. I tried it a few times and I just gave up cursing really. So I went back to the lasso tool approach which I used on all of my environments and I have to say... I love it a lot more. I love the randomization of shapes when you can just do anything really , maybe that's because I have no idea what I'm doing hehe...hehe....
I only used two brushes so far! So I'm not too brush-happy YET! And I hope I won't be! : D
So far I like how it turned out though.
Still a WIP but I have to do some stuff for school now *cough* watch football.
