Introduction and some questions regarding conceptart.org

    Hello,

I'm niko, a student communication systems from Groningen, the Netherlands.

I was looking around on the web to find a website where I could share work and hopefully get critiques as well.

The thing is however, I don't know if my artwork lives up to the high standard I see on this website. I've never had serious drawing lessons and I'm still in an early stage of what I'd like to achieve in the future.

So I was wondering if it would be ok for me to post a sketchbook journal here?

I would really like to improve my drawing skills, and I would like to have as many imput from (good) artists as possible.

I hope to be a positive member of this community.

    Niko

While I am admittedly a newb here, the answer to your question is absolutely, yes! The more you look around the more you will see that there are people at various stages of skill and experience here. From beginner to intermediate to advanced. The point is to practice, practice, practice and keep making progress. At least it is for me. I'm encouraged becuase I've looked through countless sketchbooks of those that actively post their work and I've seen a striking improvement between the posts on page 1 and page 20.

Now start posting. I would look forward to seeing your sketchbook.

If you have a moment I would love any tips or critiques that might help me improve my work.

This site is for learning and everyone has to start somewhere. We don't bite (mostly) and you get out what you put in. Start a SB, comment on others, take in what you can, explore, read and learn, and have some fun as well.

Some of the sketchbooks on this site start with quite literally the first drawings that person has ever produced; there is no minimum level required. Mindcandyman's thread is a great example - check out where he started, then skip ahead to the end and see where he went. What's important isn't where you start, but how much work you put in.
