nice idea using those sculptures for rendering. you also have adorable skillz, especially your compositions! are all of those works personal? or did you become an illustrator allready - i would be really surprised if not.

Thanks Zane I might not have time to do more collaboration projects at the moment. I've already promised a bunch of friends I'd help them with their stuff and I'm struggling with time management... sorry

Hi Mortn, thanks Most of the work in the thread is personal. I didn't get around to being an illustrator yet..I have a day-job as a production artist for movies right now, but there's nothing in the thread with work from that -- all the recent stuff in this thread is what I work on during the evenings or on the weekends

Very interesting style and nice ideas. I think this piece is pretty strong... though a general crit/comment would be "darker shadows".

Thanks P Sage could you elaborate more on darker shadows? Sometimes when I view it on certain monitors the whole thing looks almost too dark. Do you mean more contrast? Thanks for the input.

    Thanks Natalia

I think I overdid the levels because the girl gets a bit too "graphic" but hope it communicates what I was talking about.

First image is your original image desaturated (slightly shrunk).

Basically a levels adjust. We may not agree, so take it with a hill of salt.

I really like your rendering and the way you think about faces. Your designs for smoke and folds and such are really great too. very nice illustrative work :3

I really, really like your stuff! Very dynamic and lot of story all in one pile of goodiness. You do seem to lose a lot of the great value balance and life in your sketches when you start adding colour though which is a shame. Do you mind if I try my hand at colour this? I just got a completely different sense of lighting situation from the sketch and I thought it might be interesting to see what would happen if I fiddled with it.

Hi Pixie Trick Yeah... you can totally color that drawing. Thanks for taking an interest I would love to see what you do with it... and yes, I completely agree. The issues you bring up have been something I've been struggling with for a while.
I'm really looking forward to seeing what you do with it

TFsean, thanks very much Folds are a lot of fun for me. I'm hoping to practice with more fantasy stuff since there's lots of drapery in that genre. Thanks for the comment
