    P.O.W.! Challenge 60 (A-B-C) Revolutions and Parties

In all P.O.W.! Challenges, you can interpret the art any way you wish, and the more creatively, the better. Any media. B&W or Color, unless we specifically point out otherwise.

    Topic 60A: The Revolution (Storyline)

It's time to break down these walls and start again! The people (or some people) have had enough! The storyline for this P.O.W.! is a Revolution! In any time/space/place you like, a disgruntled group of society achieve critical mass and decide to reshape society in their own image. The focus of the P.O.W.! could be the revolutionaries, those they are pulling down, or an innocent bystander, confused by what's going on. Whether in the fantasy land of Generia, a dystopic Cyberpunk world or some real world setting you want to see shaken up, the Revolution is on!

    Topic 60B: The Bacchanal (Setting)

A revelry! Drunken behaviour and lewdness prevail. There's a party, and it's going over the top.

You should set your Bacchanal in a time-appropriate setting of the ancient world, but if you want to move it forward to a different time or place, go to it. The party is just the setting here though. It's the background. What's the main plot? That's up to you. A murder? Intrigue? A love story?

Topic 60C: Promotional Poster for A/B

If you have no time to make panels and are feeling like a bit of design, put together a one-panel scene of the characters you would have written about, in a setting with a poster or graffiti for one of the events above.

One or All-Deadline: Sunday, May 27th, 2012, 11:59 pm anywhere in the world.

You can present your solution as a minimum of THREE to any practical maximum you wish which adhere to standard comic specs as below...and, yes, you can have the first or last (or both) as a splash page if you want--just don't get TOO extreme on page counts. REMEMBER: You don't have to have a complete comic to qualify for polling--if you realize you're running out of time, try to get at least THREE pages finished by the deadline. That's all you need to qualify for polling..

    Standard Comic Book Size:

    --Trim size: 6 5/8" x 10 1/4"
    --Live art area: 6" x 9"
    --Bleed size before trimming: 6 7/8" x 10 1/2" (1/8" in all directions)

    .................................................. .............................

    Good luck.

To all of you who have supported the P.O.W.! Challenges, from the bottom of my heart I thank you.

Just a reminder--those of you who didn't get a chance to finish exactly the way you wanted to, or ran into deadline problems, remember there is a sticky section where you can post your stuff when you do get it up to speed.

They were great suggestions, I thought. I can't remember off-hand who suggested what, but they were cool. I thought in advance I would do the Bacchanal, but I just had an idea for Revolution that will have to get done.

2 hours of pen sketches thinking about Revolutions, by the end I was thinking about a story set in the future, a hundred years from now maybe, with spaceships and vintage cars. A story about the colonization of Mars, the birth of a new world and the revolution that followed.

I think start-of-the-summer/end-of-school time is kicking in. It's been quiet in responses but normal in views, as far as I can see. I have my first two pages finished but as usual I have to go to the print shop to get them scanned in. I'm going to finish my third on revolution and then knock about with some ideas for a non-running Bacchanal.

I saw this webcomic the last day and thought of our Native People's Legends challenges...

"Native People's Legends challenges"? I'm in!
I went straight there even when the challenge was Moebius...
Really like that Bird Boy book! Will have to keep checking in with her progress on it.

It's pretty cool, eh? I don't know how I ended up looking at it, but I'm glad it came on the radar. I was trying to keep the Legends flavour with the Greek Myths and Roman Bacchanal topics. If you have any other Native People's Legends ideas, I want to hear them. I was thinking of the Incans or Mayans or something, although it might be nice to hold the Mayan one until November or so....

Yeah, the Cat kind of said "hey, don't worry about that team challenge, I have an idea for how to run it all lined up". I'll have to think over how to do it *scratches head*. I am open to suggestions. I have some other ideas for different POWs! but no idea how to run a team POW! efficiently.

I like your panel for the Bacchanal. I'm sure its meant to be fetish gear, but it makes me think of superheroes. Have you seen the bit in Flex Mentallo where Flex ends up in a Superhero Sex Party? It makes me think of that.

Actually, I think I have had a brainwave on a way to do the team thing. Look for a sign up/discussion thread over the next few months...

Here's some cell phone pics from.... Tuesday or Wednesday of my REVOLUTION! pages... I haven't made it to my friendly local print shop yet to scan them, so I may delay the poll a few hours (although Monday Morning my time is still Sunday somewhere afaik.

So, it's 8 AM now... the new topic (#61) will be up in about 12 hours and I'll start gathering material from this one in about 24 - 30 hours, if anyone wants to throw extra shine on their pieces!

hey great work! does that mean were the only 3 competitors i was going for the image cover thing. even though i spelled bachanel wrong..........i yeah in the begganing you said you where all about polls! so if i create A and you create B we shouldn't be on the same poll. all you need to do is create a different thread for each challenge

j.s. sabastian I was guessing yours was for Challenge C - the promotional image? The original idea was that the comic challenges (A & B) would go head-to-head in the polls and the C Challenge would be seperate, but those were more guidelines than rules per se. So yeah, yours is a seperate poll.

I really like where your colours ended up, btw. Pretty sweet.
