As I promised! Here are some sketching and studies of the head. Funny about it is that I've been reading "Fun with a pencil" by Andrew Loomis, which is actually A WHOLE LOT OF JOY to keep going through!

For those who enjoy following me til this very page, I want at first to thank you for your attention! I really appreciate that! Aaand second, I got NEWS for ya. Yes...children, I've been given the most marvelous present a man can get from another bro: A sketchbook. Just CHECK it, we all know you want it too! It's ok, it's ok!

Simple, kinda minimalist, thick white pages and holding a lot of potential fun out of it:
So I've been drawings skulls and even started some lines into a one point perspective village! Huull

o0O0oo new sketchbook, those are the funnest . Well, I like page 3 or so. the first page seems like it needs to be awesome, cuz it's the first. but 3-4 pages in it's gravy lol.

Nice to see you powering out some skulls, do you have reference or are they from your head? Some of the proportions are a little shaky, but it's all good learning. ^_^

    happy sketching

Hey Rhubix, all of em are from imagination!
Here's a new portrait using some fast strokes and what-not. And also my further exploration of that perspective study. Ending this post with 30 spell icons made for Phobos.

I made that for a friend of mine. This drawing was made based on a pic she took with her dad when she made it through a public contest... They're both at joy and unfortunately her dad suffered an accident and died few years from now. Last year was her first year without her dad and I made this drawing for her on "Father's day", which she loved cuz according to her, it sorta felt like a new photography. So it was a successful present...

Who would like to paint it!?!?!

Hey friends! Sorry about not sharing any news lately! Things are going crazy at work! I'm finishing my thesis and so my global free time got REALLY shortened lately! But!! I'm still drawing when I can! This is a really cool perspective study? LOTS of great knowledge coming out of it... and also my 4-years old sister would looove to get her crayons in that! Haha so childish!

Hello again! I've bought myself a Canon T3i! Seriously recommended for studying values, light and for general fun! hehe For the record: This is a study of value from a photograph I took from the beach near my house.

Cool progress! Especially the portraits have gone leaping forward. I'd love to see more anatomy practises and also whole figures. The class chart is wonderful.

    Dear Sketchbook,

Long time no see, eh? Woo!! 2013...Great promises on this year. First of all it seems we're finally getting things to click. I'm pretty damn excited about our game. Specially cause I'm up to defend my thesis on Drug design next month! (You know I'm a biologist and also work with molecular modeling - just like a pharmacist would, right?)...What I mean by that is that I'll get plenty much more time to dedicate myself to REAL GAME ART!

As a concept artist, I'm currently doing a few things?! Latest bit of art I took my pen upon was some spell buttons for Inconcessus 3D animations. Cool minutes of digital painting! Hehe kinda pumped me to this talk I got with Tim on skype. Now a lot of new concepts and sprites are secretly being done by us. My last shot was a creature... a really fun drawing? Not something really presentable to our community as a final art. But it was really fun to sketch that, so I'm pinning this on this page of yours, hope you enjoy a lil bit of cool colors .

Nice to check you again. I'll try to keep in touch, the best I can.

    Color messing!

Here's the result of my latest playing around with colors and layers blending. Also turned that fish into a statue and made a logo out of it for a sea food restaurant called "Le Gourjon"

    Another portrait

Hey everyone! This was a value study of the female face that took me 45 minutes to paint. I'm particularly proud of this last piece because I took reference of from a picture of a girl I was hanging out back on 2012. Andre = Awesome sauce! I'll keep sure to post more regularly than before, kids. Specially since I'm officially studying art theory as a freak now.

Another look back to the dawn village

After a marvelous lecture from Richards Keyes on the subject of Color Theory and The mechanics of color, I've made little changes in my values mostly trying to establish a better color through complementary harmony making use from the contrast between yellow-orange and blue-violet colors.

This illustration was actually made for Myth Entertainment prime product - Phobos, coming out on May. The picture you see down here is a snapshot of the currently ongoing website of the game. ^^ The whole concept was created to be perceived as a children book of tales and stories since the game is supposed to be load of a historical, well-written fantasy lore. I guess I would change the pose of the human down there to something more dynamic, tho I'm not yet sure if that would sum much to the composition itself. Feel free to share any thoughts on that, friends. Keep on painting!

    Hail Dr. Manhattan

This is it, I'm finishing my PhD project right now and, while putting it together, I thought it would be a nice stress-reliving move to draw my advisor - Professor P. Sathler, as Dr. Manhattan. So here is it! Haha, it does have been a lot of fun. ;D

    Ball lighting

Being thinking a lot about values lately. So most-likely, my following posts will cover some of my long-road of studies on lighting, color theory and other stuff, before I go back to forms with an updated vision regarding it... Seems like a good strategy, uh? Maybe a peculiar one tho, since many of you out there may say that its better to learn a form and THEN shade/highlight it. Dunno really, but so far I'm going against it, yo!

yo dude, one thing is about construction, your drawings lacks of volume in itself, learning values at this stage won't make your paintings better ! you will just put good values on a bad drawing, which will still make your painting bad !! simples equations are : bad drawing + good values/colors = bad painting ! Great drawing + good values/colors = really good painting ! great drawing + great values/colors = asskiller painting !! that was my 2 cents, hope it helps ! Keep it up, and cheers !!

Hey, Andrew, it's great that you came back after a gap between 2012 and now. Never too late to start back up again. I agree with the above comment; sometimes your construction/perspective gets away from you and needs to be addressed. Unfortunately this will affect how your art turns out, because as kindaface mentioned, the ability to draw solidly is your foundation for everything you will do. How convincingly can you draw a box? Just a simple box, at multiple angles and perspective setups. The moment you master the box, you master 3D space. But it's not an easy feat. I challenge you to a box off! Let's see some box studies from you and (if I'm so bold to do so) I'll give you what advice I can on how to improve your constructions. All up to you, of course. Either way, I'll be back to check out your updates, as long as you keep'em coming.

That was the greatest exercise ever given! Haha

Been doing boxes for all over a week now. Many of em are in my paper sketchbook which I will try to scan. But since I was urging for comments, I just took a picture of em to give you a rough idea of what's going on so far. Thank you ALL for helping me by pointing things out, guys. I really appreciate your time and effort upon this thread. Gotta make you happy by trying to reply in the same level of investment. ^^

Just tell me: This sums up what you are expecting for box studies? Note I'm using perspective grids for them too, beside the examples below.
