Originally this film was said to have been conceived as a prequel to 'Alien'. According to Ridley Scott it's developed beyond that. The actual trailer will be released on thursday. I can't wait for this. The Space Horror genre needs a decent entry.

This looks a lot like the original alien trailer which isn't a bad thing.I'm looking forward to seeing more of this.
Yeah. Looks really good, actually.![]()

wow. There are some very definite ties to the original 'Alien'. Not just in set pieces but in how the trailer is presented. I'm very excited to see this movie. At the same time however, I loved the mysterious and ambiguous nature of the derelict craft in Alien. I hope it doesn't become so fleshed out that it becomes less interesting.
Here's the original alien trailer for comparison.
Prometheus
Here's the second full trailer.
If this movie turns out to be a dud, I'm going to go live the rest of my life in a monastery.
A shorter teaser with some different footage
If you haven't seen these yet, here are a couple of promotional viral videos.

This is going to be awwweeeesssssoooommmmeeeee!![]()
So looking forward to this, after a crappy start to the movie year from John Carter
I'm so excited for it.![]()
I'm having this weird vision of me, stood in the lobby of a cinema, trying to decide between Prometheus, Avengers and Dark Knight while people form a huge grumbling queue behind me.....
Oh Hollywood.
You make nothing I want to see for a year, then you throw all my favourite actors and directors at the screen in huge budget nerd epics in the same 6 weeks..*
*wouldn't have been an issue when I lived in a city with three multi screen cinemas but now I'm out in the sticks just getting to the cinema is sort of an all day mission...
Here's the UK trailer.
I'm loving everything I see so far. The Weyland Industries website has a few cool things as well. Check out the timeline for a little bit of setting that includes some fan service. Speaking of fan service, Alien might be my favorite movie of all time but I'm glad to see that this seems to be going its own way and can stand on its own. I couldn't care less if I never see another xenomorph on screen.

Some more viral content.
so, it looks to me like they go the planet and somehow make the ship generate the facehuggers we see in alien. thats why the face huggers work on humans. as to the peril, maybe the ships are designed to cull young starfaring civilisations that trip them, like The Killers in Anvil of Stars?

You do understand that once youve bought a ticket and are behind the velvet rope you can go into all the movies one after the other right?

theres a really great cinema here in camrbridge that looks cool from the outside and is in a good location and has nice seats and a bar and so on, but they only show amazingly boring shitty movies that literally no one would in a lifetime pay to see if they would watch it on TV, or a plane, or never.. like that one where Ewan Macgregors dad is gay and old. so its quiet as a tomb.
just put on Predator and Back to the Future and Dune on on a friday and saturday night you boring cultured fuckers and watch the gold roll in.
You noticed the weather on LV426 is way worse in Aliens and Alien. Maybe it was just a different season or something but in the trailer it looks much warmer and clearer.

The art house place I used to use was a tad more practical..
Cinema 1-Important Algerian Film about Political Freedom
Cinema 2 -Variation on the above, unless a new Batman / Lord of the Rings / Star Wars is out.
They were rational enough to realise that a short run for Harry Potter in the only remaining city centre cinema paid for a lot of screenings of important French classics..
I don't think that's LV426.You noticed the weather on LV426 is way worse in Aliens and Alien. Maybe it was just a different season or something but in the trailer it looks much warmer and clearer.
Exactly. Those beautiful, thought provoking subtle and often surprisingly accessible Important movies us fans want to see can be paid for by showing the exciting classic action films us fans want to see.
"I don't think that's LV426."
interesting theory, i hadnt even thought of that!
I assumed this was the origin story of how the Hulk came to be on LV426 and be filled with Facehugger eggs, but youre totally right, this might be a completely different facility.

There's new clip published...
I see there is some vision behind this movie and lots of focus on telling story (instead of showing only action) so it's already very promising thing.
IMAX trailer stretched to 13 minutes long

Thanks. At this point there's enough of the movie revealed. I think I'll skip this one and wait for the premiere.
Its just the trailer. Stretched to 13 minutes by making it suuuuuuuupppppppper slooooooowwww.
However, if youd like a bit of Weyland Yutani style corporate evil, try this.
Easily one of the most frightening films ive ever seen, in all the right ways, and its an advert. For the Playstation2.

Yeah. I'm really disappointed that studio felt it necessary to reveal so much in its promotion campaign. The original alien trailer shows almost nothing yet achieves a very ominous tone which culminates to claustrophobic panic. It's unfortunate that American audiences are so addicted to stimuli that trailers like Alien's would probably not generate enough interest in a big budget film today. So now we have trailers that clearly state what are probably major plot points.

Early reviews show this at a 96% approval, but from what it sounds like people have more of a fondness for Alien
As of 6/1 it's at 85%

Honestly I didn't get all the excitement over the trailer, and this is behind TDKR, Spiderman and Brave on my to-see list, but I may still give it a go based on reviews.
Yes I watch movies based on reviews, and it saves me a ton of grief![]()
