A laser pistol which has only one shot created for the sole purpose of dueling. I think this is pretty straightforward.

Brief:
1. Design and draw a One Shot Laser Dueling Pistol.
2. That's it... now draw!

Hell, I'm up for this one, I've never done any Industrial Designs, but I might aswell give it a shot, expect a post from me soon. Time to draw!

Oh, and why do I barely see people joining this contest? Nobody interested in Industrial Design?

Hey, sooo, I was just goofing around searching for cool design pics to break a rather tedious ideas block, and I stumbled upon this here forum and upon seeing the topic for this contest I just had a rather goofy idea that I just had to join so I could post it.

My idea is to have it shaped like a flint lock pistol, but with the hammer holding a wire from the power source which connects when fired.

What does one shot laser mean? How can a laser have only have one shot? Like does it fire only one photon? I find the terms "one shot" and "laser" contradicting, since a laser fires a continuous beam of photons.

Zelda, I'm not saying that the laser can only shoot once in technical terms- this is a dueling pistol. Traditionally you only have one shot and pistol that limits you to this would avoid cheating. You can think of this as one "laser burst" if you would like. The idea is that this is more of a ceremonial pistol as opposed to a daily use one.

Here's a video of what this guy calls a "pulse laser gun", says it has 50 shots on it's battery charge. I guess you can think of this concept as something similar to it but with enough charge for one shot instead of 50.

Hi All! I guess I'll get in on this one.

@ Redystra: I know, I don't know why nobody gets in on these things. Its too bad. I've been trying my best to get in on as many of these as I can lately. It would be cool to get more people involved.

As for your WIP, I like the form, it has nice proportions. I might think about the overall concept a little more though. It feels a little "generic laser gun-y". Try to think about what might set this apart from other laser guns based on the fact that it is ONLY for dueling. What can be removed? What might need to be added? Try to think of a story surrounding the object. Just a few thoughts.

@ Mongoose King: Cool idea. I'm envisioning space pirates settling their scores with this on the bridge of a cobbled together space ship. I'm excited to see what comes of it.

@ Shmaba: I like the proportion of 4 the best. I'm not crazy about some of the detailing on it, but I think the overall shape is working the best. I like the wheel on the back part of 3 and 4.

Okay, Here's a quick sketch for what I'm thinking. I started thinking about dueling and what kind of futuristic (because of the lasers) society would be dueling. I decided on a Utopian type society that has sworn off war and violence, and has little need for police or much governance at all anymore. This can be the last way for people to settle great differences (albeit the practice being quite taboo amongst most other citizens).

The one shot pistol is un-folded. The user then has to put their wrist through the arm cuff to arm the gun. This can be done to make sure that nobody can cheat it and duel for someone else. After both guns shoot their single round, the cuffs unlock. (phew, hopefully this wasn't too tedious of a story, just thought i'd let you in on my thought process a little)

@themonet: Well damn, you're right. Now that I look at Shmaba's silhouettes and your concept, it makes me wonder why I made mine, haha. Sadly I don't have time for a redesign since I was a bit busy, so no final work from me this round. I'll give it another shot next IDW.
