need a hand.....astronaut loves donut

Was given the opportunity to exhibit some art work in a local art show. I decided to create this piece that I've decided to call "Astronaut loves donut".

But I'm having some issue getting it to looking right and decided to get some helpful criticism so that I can fix it up before the show.

Personal I like my quick sketch better than my other attempt. Mostly because the astronaut is actually holding the donut for dear life.

The main issues that are bugging me (I'm sure there many more that you will pick up on) are the hands, the left leg and were the body hugs the donut.

Yeah, the quick sketch looks better, not only because of the pose but because it's looser and has more "energy" in it, and all the mistakes are easier to ignore, But now that you have started to polish it all the flaws and things where your skill isn't enough are ten times clearer. The sketch also has a clearer "point of interest" as the lines in both sides concentrate towards the astronaut tightly.

But the most obvious this is that right now the astronaut is literally melding with the doughnut, and not holding it.

I went back and decided to think up something better. This is what I came up with. I was watching an old Simpson episode when I saw lard lad, through that would make a great illustration for my whole astronaut love donuts.

Then I was thinking of doing some kind of donut death machine. Some of the quick sketches just weren't working for me. Till I realized it would look better as a spaceship.
