    Sketchbookaboo.

    Hey everyone.
My name is Kim Myatt and I'm a 24 year old artist from the UK, self taught. Would like to make more of a career out of my work, I have a lot of experience working with private clients but haven't taken work yet from other areas of the industry - I'm interested in working in the areas of illustration but I would be happy to work on pretty much anything as long as I can draw. I would also love to one day combine my passion for drawing and writing into one and publish my own graphic novels.

Any advice and critique is welcome and I hope you enjoy my posts.

More studies. For the portrait I tried to exaggerate the neck while still making it believable, trying to bring focus to that swan-like feeling.

Hey, great painting technique! I was about to say "that neck just looks like a bird!!" but then I read your swanly intentions. Very well done.
When my daughter was about seven years old, she asked me one day what I did at work. I told her I worked at the college - that my job was to teach people how to draw.
She stared back at me, incredulous, and said, "You mean they forget?"

    You are self-taught? Bloody hell.
For how long have you been learning art? 10 years?

I'm trembling in awe before your skills.

@Vanaga and Ihazar, thank you guys I'm glad you enjoyed looking at my stuff!

@Guardian G.I. Thank you for the kind compliment. I've been drawing pretty much since I could hold a pencil, mainly animals and dragons, haha. I started learning digital at 15, doing small requests and commissions for folks from online games I was on etc - my work was so shoddy, it was unbelievable, but I slowly improved. I started really trying to improve my work and considering I might be able to do this for a career about 4 years ago, so I started actively making efforts to improve then.

Kveldvaahiim: Alright, unless you are planning to use this sketchbook as your portfolio, would you please post some of your earlier work, when you were just starting out? I'm really curious to see how you were starting to learn art, that's what the professionals around here usually don't show or even mention, like they have never failed at all when they were just beginners.

@Guardian G.I. Sure I will, if I can find some! I have changed computers since way back then and last year my oldyworldy hard drive locked up on me and I lost access to all my files. I might be able to find some of my ancient artwork somewhere, though, so if I can then I'll post it for you

@Guardian G.I., Sorry I couldn't find any old work to show. I'll keep a look out, though.

This is something I've been working on on and off since yesterday evening.

    Hey there,

Great work all around, you know your anatomy really well sir.

My only crit would be for your eye studies form post #2. They are begging for a shadow under the eyebrow.

    Looking forward to see more,

Thank you to everyone who is enjoying my sketchbook so far and taking the time to provide feedback!

@GEB Indeed! Are there many of us on here?

Progress I'm finally happy with the colouring after redoing much of the base colours.

WoW!! Love the crow/raven there! And yes, you have to draw more! no because you need it badly, but because you do it quite well! I can tell you have a great sense of figure, very accurate.
