It's REALLY good, love the muscle tone, character design and atmosphere. I'm think I'm more drawn to the cool-toned one.

Edit: On second thought, the green one is more balanced...man this is hard. Maybe a compromise? It's hard to say.

Let's just have our own little voting session right here! Because I want to vote for yours too! Its better in every way.

I would buy a print of it too and hang it right here in front of me to tell me...yes...you can make something badass today. In fact, a caption at the bottom of the print that says that might just do the trick!

Btw I like the blue one

Sick, man - just fierce. That is most definately Conan, all the way. I really appreciate that he's carrying both the Atlantean sword and his father's sword + battle axe for good measure. (right click, save as...)

He pops more on the blue, but for whatever reason I'm more drawn to the green. Well done, sir.

@ Piranha Clan - +50 awesomeness points to you for recognizing both swords! I know there are some Conan purists who hate the movie swords, but I grew up on all of the Conan media and feel that those swords are iconic and help strengthen his overall visual identity.

BTW, the axe was inspired by the axe he used in the final battle at the end of the first movie before his duel with Rexor.

    Thumbs up

I really like this. It reminds me a little bit of the scene in Mulan when they encounter the Huns in the mountain pass.
    Very good work.

The one thing the winning piece had over the OP is that Conan is doing something, an action showing movement.

OP's is tight, granted, but Conan is just standing there.

IMO, in the winner's image, Conan is just standing there also.

It's just personal taste, but I tend to stay away from the gore and actual violence. I'll paint the before and after, but not the moment a knife goes into a face. You know, keep it classy.

This is goodest art in all of Hyboria

    What is best in life?

Conan: To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women.

Your art totally captures the character that would say and think such a thing. Of course, that idea comes from the movie (the 1st one that was way cool, not any of the following ones that sucked). Most of my thinking concerning Conan comes from the Savage Sword of Conan B&W mags back in the 70's/80's. Great stuff. Using those as reference, I can only say.... CROM!!!

    Lich King

The only thing I see in the other Conan is blood. I definately am in aggreement that yours is better. I'm not personally a Conan buff, so that's all I can really say about that...However, your Lich King is someone I know. You did a great job here capturing the wind and keeping it consistant even into the peaks in the background. I felt the need to grab a blanket. Great work.

    Diablo 3 Fan art contest

Here is my submission for Diablo 3's Hero portrait contest. Naturally I chose to paint Barbarians. There are already a lot of great entries! Anyway, I don't care if I win or lose, I just wanted a reason to paint these two one more time. Warriors in snow...again, lol.

Honorbound to guard the Worldstone, few Barbarians remain at their posts after the breaking. Two warriors maintain their vigil to defend Sanctuary against the coming demonic invasion.

I'm quite baffled by the four star rating. These are some of the coolest characters I've seen in a while. And sooooo well rendered.

Great arts Froi! Specially i like faces of characters they are looks so real.
I see that almost all art is monochromatic, except skin and some details of characters. I guess it was your art design but if add more color on skulls, snow in foreground, etc it will looks better.
It's almost useless try to win in contest where winner is who get more likes.
Cus people are cheating without any respect to other artists.

Ant - Thanks! Yeah, it's a stylistic choice to go with a muted palette. I'm trying to use less saturation in my art than before. I used to get really hyper with color.

The contest is decided by committee. It's just neat to see the race unfold. It's like a Pokemon or Magic battle: You build your best deck and set it loose amongst the crowd - MMO Diablo art THUNDERDOME!

Mikko - I'm not stopping you from giving me a 5 star rating...

The first works may be more the shadow of some of the D3 barbarian. Feeling of winners may be more relevant to the very king Conan's temperament. Both are good works: D
Hope to see more of your work
