Little update.....trying something new, totally out of my comfort-zone. Dont know what to think of it, still lots of things to tackle which eventually will lead to a total dislike...

Posted linework and a colorversion for steps.

I know it's a little against the rules, but a while I made this for the teen challenge with the same subject.
I was the only one participating in that challenge so iI was a bit dissapointed

I love what Rob and Banvivirie have done so far. Dinosaurs are so nostalgic for me haha. They used to be the only things I would draw, although back then the idea of a dinosaur having feathers wasn't as accepted as it is now. Can't wait to see finished pieces.

I should look around CA beyond the lounge some more - I had no idea this was here 'til I saw the post on the Dinosaur Mailing List.

Of the four finished entries I think Rob's is the most skilfully rendered, but immediately makes me think about 'lizard-faced monsters in gorilla suits'. Sorry!
(I used to go with 'vulture-style bald heads' too, until I saw a couple of arguments that I can't quite place at the moment. In a nutshell, feathery-headed raptors [avian raptors] and corvids don't have much trouble with carcasses.)

I think Banvivre went a bit overboard, in showing her work with the relevant plantlife. Can't say I know composition, but the great green mass does crowd and confuse the piece. The animals themselves aren't quite as sharp as Rob's, but they look accurate and very natural to me. Gets my vote.

What a blast from the past! The DML is still going? Maybe I'll resubscribe.

Which is exactly what it looks like.

I tried subscribing again, a few months ago. Didn't get approved. But then I treat it like this place, for the most part - lurk, and boggle at the knowledge on display.

If you send an e-mail to the one of the list managers saying you're having trouble subscribing they will quite likely hook you up. That's what I did when changing my main e-mail account.

Elwell: Well, yes. It never went anywhere for as long as I've been subscribed there... some 8 years. True, there has been the usual drama for online communities.
