Here is a comic that i have been working on for the past month and a half. It is the first, and shortest, part of a four part series that i wish to complete sometime within this year till, uhh, till i croak. Each part will start back from the beginning, featuring the same characters, except their personalities and vocations will differ, causing them to proceed through the story differently and running into different events. With each proceeding part, more of the overall story and situation will be reveled to the reader. So, the first part is not meant to explain to much of whats going on, outside of the immediate story.

Feel free to critique. I hope you enjoy the story.

cool, i like it! though the dialogue is a bit too explaining at times. for example when he says Look at you arm; it's an unnecessary sentence because we can already see it, so going straight to the implants bit would be fine. as i was tought by my film lecturer once; don't underestimate your audience

    constructive crit

Hi, nice work. Looks like it was probably time intensive. I noticed that it looks to me like you are doing your lettering electronically. THat's kewl, but personally, i like the lettering to be done by hand. I would suggest the book "Making Comics" by scott Mcleod. (spelling?) it has some very interesting insights on typography, and why it's important not to crowd the corners of your bubbles, and to have your bubbles planned and part of the art. It takes more time, but the finished product will breath and live a little more.

Thanks for the advice. Been meaning to pick up that book for some time now. Time to hop to it.
This comic was made pretty much as an update to my portfolio focused towards inked work and my abilities as an inker. Not so much for the text work. Though, that doesn't mean it should be neglected. Expanding into freehand type, i feel would help, and definitely broaden the scope of work potential.

    Thanks for the critiques!

    The Dragon and The Knight

For the past couple weeks i have been working on a series of inks for a fantasy story. It revolves around a Knight who is seeking out wisdom. He seeks out an ancient wise dragon who has been bound by enchanted unbreakable chains for hundreds of years. The knight offer to help free the dragon in return for knowledge and wisdom. The dragon agrees and begins sharing his wisdom with the knight. The knight than rides off to uphold his part of the bargain.

That is a quick summary of the introduction to the story. Here are the images that follow along as the story progresses. Enjoy!

Cool stuff the comic is a bit text heavy, but it flows and reads well - keep it up!

Here are the next two illustration for the story. The second one posted here will be colored once all the illustrations for this project are finished. Right now, its swinging between one or two more. Enjoy.

Very nice - I admire anyone who can tackle comic book work. I find the idea rather intimidating myself

Congrats on making your comics - the text and story needs a little work but the drawing and inking are done very well overall and I can appreciate it because making serious comics is definitely not easy, especially if you are doing it all by yourself...

I like the fantasy stuff more and it looks more advanced in terms of rendering, pose and compositions.

Your work is fabulous. I really love your sense of design and composition. Some of these are really iconic. I particularly love the one with the minotaurs.

My only critique on the drawings is work on head structure a bit more. Some of your heads and faces seem a little bit off, even though they were cartooned. Its hardly noticable, but it could help bringing your work up a level.

I would also recommend working on your characterization a bit, explore new archtypes, features and personalities.

Good luck! Everything is looking great!

Your overgrown robotic jungle image, specifically the way you've drawn the people in it, reminds me of Denis Loubet's black and white artwork for the old Ultima game manuals.

    Great stuff!
I enjoyed your black and whites alot more then your colored work though.

I know the colored work used to be black and white as well though, so i can't clearly tell you why I feel this way.

Though I received similar feedback from other people.

I could be totally wrong, but perhaps you are more confident in your black and whites then coloring? Or maybe it just seems that way because of the hard contrast, but try using a harder brush when you color, maybe that will leave some evidences of your wonderful craftsmanship that seem to blend and fade out too smoothly in your digital coloring.

O man, It has been a while.
Thanks Koncept. You are right. I am much more comfortable dealing with black and white. Thanks for the coloring advice. I will try that out.

Here are some more images, fun and contracted, that I have worked on since my last update, which i believe was a billion years ago
