Is there anyone here that is familiar with Rom Hacking and fan translation besides myself? For those who are unfamiliar with Rom Hacking, it's where you take a game rom and modify it with an editing program with some kind. There are the hacks that are mods of existing games to make them somewhat new, and those that translate JP exclusive titles into other languages.

I was given a translated JP-to-EN rom of FEDA: Emblem of Justice on the SNES by a mate because I was desperate to play it given that Shining Force is my favourite game. Thanked him a million times. I have no idea how its done but I would never have been able to play it otherwise.

My guess would be with a hex editor, though I can't say for sure. This Wikipedia article may be a good starting point.

Even though emulation is of questionable/debatable legality, at least fan translators have opened up people to games that were previously unheard of and lead to many Super NES to GBA ports to be released to other locales. In addition, it's what lead to Virtual Console and X-Box Live Arcade.
