Anyone have any good resources for basic architecture (reference material, instructional info) I'm looking into different styles and type and no better place to start than the basics. This isn't for a dedicated study of architecture, more for use with regular illustrations.

The good old standard Gardner's Art Through the Ages has an overview of architecture alongside the history of art... Not a bad general-purpose art-and-architecture reference to have around, if you don't already have it.
