Wow, great start for only drawing serious for a year. You really seem to have an eye for drawing. Keep it up and good luck

Glad to see you are so dedicated. There are many who would of gave up already -- which is why I encourage you to keep going. Especially because you have a great start.

More good studiesI can see you take time to get these right and really try to nail them. How long does it usually take for you to do these? The leg studies...Keep going man, you're doing really well!!!
yeah indeed you sure take your time for the studies. Which is good![]()
Nice work so far![]()

Strong anatomy studies!
nice work, i dont think its ever 2 late to live your dream.. i get the same feeling and im almost 21..
of course, everyone has their own personal side to it. its not just "im 27, and im not a great artist"- What i mean is, if you have your reasons to draw...hell. do it.

@KONM ...thanks ! although work keeps me away from drawing sometimes for many days but if people like you are here for support it gives encouragement to keep going
@Damien Levvis...thanks!well! i am not exactly sure how much time i took but it would be around 4 hours , but i guess most of time went on just understanding these muscles than drawing, they were very confusing , i am still confused
@Sushy ...thanks!
@n1frit ...thanks!
@A Faux... thanks !
ok its been two weeks since i updated my sb even then i have a little update to share... work keeping me away from drawing, its gonna be like that for sometime , i hope i'll get time to draw more soon

a still life it's not from life it's from a drawing book . trying to improve pencil shading ..
Dude...Where are you?!
Awesome updates man! The leg studies from loomis are looking great. I hope you'll find time to update your sb soon. It always sucks if work is keeping you away from drawing.

I totally get what you mean about not having time for drawing.. I keep postponing it, saying I'll draw so much but next week when I have less things to do (and I keep passing it and nothing ever gets done).. It sucks. I'd say to just buy yourself a small sketchbook that you can easily carry around or in your suitcase (so you can take it to work), and maybe during your lunch break or something you could try to draw the people you see and stuff. It has definitely helped me, I've started drawing more often now
Also, your works are great! I can already see some improvements. Keep it up and you'll be great in no time!
Hey, Vin, I just found you SB and am really excited to find someone else in his later 20's as well (I'm 25) that's trying to do art professionally without going back to school. I agree with most people that say that this site and any other resource that you can gather in books or the TONS of freebies online paired with a burning desire to learn as much as you can will be enough to get you to a level on par and possibly better than someone who was "traditionally" trained. That's my opinion, of course, and I'm sure there are 100's of people who would comment just to disagree with me, ha. But I'd say that what's most important is to be able to soak in as much as you can, build a great portfolio, and decide where to go from there, either working freelance, get on with a studio, or create your own business. It's almost exciting to think about all the avenues that could be available. And what's great is that you have a job where you can maintain your finances and stability and continue to learn in all the free time you have. This was a long post, sorry, but all in all your studies are great (I'm currently doing Loomis' books as well) and I'm glad you've chosen to pick art back up after a while. Keep it up, sir!
PS - stop by and say hi on my SB. would love some comments/crits!
Hi , thanks for commenting on my sketchbook , you have a lovely stuff here , i espacilly like the leg studies , they look awesome , try to study them from bridgman for more knowledge , and also one important thing that you should do , you must apply those anatomy studies to a life model or a photograph , example : get a nude (male , female ) photograph , draw his or her legs then try to put the muscles or the bone on the legs ( from memory or from art books ) and accualty you're doing great with your art , and i suggest you to make a challenge of a one or two hundreds gesture drawings

Your drawings are really precise and careful. I find the cleanliness very impressive and I think you're well on your way to improving!
I lurk here sometimes.
@ Damine levs.. hi dude! stuck in work these days. i knew it i wouldn't have enough time but things are not even going
the way i had expected..feeling really bad ,, it sucks when you find out your are still at the level where u started from
@Baudolino...glad u liked legs studies...work will always keep me busy but even if its with crawling steps i will try to keep moving
@ LuckyCharm...thanks u liked my work...and ya i have started to keep a small sketch with me,, but i feel a little strange
coz people around me expect something damn beautiful in my sb . and they keep asking y are u drawing all this why don't u draw a beautiful portrait or something.. but i have started to ignore this
@MrFrenik.. hey there! thanks for coming by my sb ...and y sorry for the long post? in fact i appreciate your valuable suggestions![]()
@Wassim ...thanks Wassim , i did pick up bridgeman book first but honestly i found it little confusing for a beginner like me that's y i decided to go for loomis
first , once i am done with it i am gonna start with either hampton's book or bridgeman's
@Danitiwa ...thanks for visitingi am happy that u liked my sb
well! after a long time i have a little update ..
tried to study facial muscles.. still confused a bit specially in neck muscles . it was looking a lot better but my bad scanner ruined it all![]()

my scanner broke , got it scanned from outside and that guy didn't do it properlyanyways! here is little update ,,,torso muscles study , it feels like i made them a little wider
.
Last edited by Vins_2011; December 4th, 2011 at 03:39 PM.
keep pushing your skill man.you improved a lot and i bet you will do better in no time![]()
Yeah, they look too wide for me too. I think that I read in Bridgman's book that the torso and arms are 2,5 heads wide.
I'd advice to observe the world, people around you and learn from it, you'll save some time that you'd have to draw studies. It's really helpful (on my example, I don't do any studies and still am progressing)

Vins, good to see you uploading again....I thought we'd lost you man. Good pencil skills you got goingKeep it up we all want to see more

All the best.
Looking great!![]()
first of all "WISH YOU ALL A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR"
well! haven't been able to draw for a long time, with that speed may be i will become a good artist in next twenty years or so, anyways wanted to draw something at least on new year.
so here's a little update
1 , 2 .. continuing with loomis book, some copies of loomis
3.. tried to draw from imagination, still can't draw from imagination that well
4,5 & 6 .. also started studying from michael hampton's books![]()
Thank you for your comment in my SB! Your sketches are also looking very good - wishing you luck in 2012 and keep drawing![]()
I wish you a (very) belated happy new year!
Those muscle studies are awesome, I still admire your pencil-control (if that makes sense).
Take care and keep drawing![]()
so drawing after two and a half months.. holding pencil felt really weird for s a while..anyways!
tried to do a portrait of Major Dhyan chand , he was a famous indian hocky player, After seeing his prolific play at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, Adolf Hitler offered Dhyan Chand, a Major in the British Indian Army, German citizenship and an offer to promote him to the rank of a Colonel , which he refused..
well! m not very happy with the likeness as i can see a lot of distortion and proportion mistake plus i guess i really need to improve my observational skill,
posting the reference image too, i would really appreciate comments and critiques![]()
portrait from photo
I really like your portraits/life drawing, very well done. YES this is a good place
for people to learn but only if you keep the hard work up, It took me a while
to gather people around my SB.
I have the problem that I am very lose, sometimes my work looks unclean to manny
lines, but try some gestures it will make you lose up a bit, good stuff here so far.
