    Critique on my W.I.P?

Hello there! I have not visited this site for too long now, It's time I get myself working again!

This image is something I'm currently working on. I feel stuck with it, I want to make it 'pop' and 'flow' better as I know that it's severely lacking in it's current state.

Any tips? What am I doing wrong? Is it fixable or should I start over?

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Now I'm reminded of this:

I don't really get what the background stuff is, or where the characters are in terms of that. Like it kinda looks like the dragon's head is popping from the ground and it has no body. The black mountains(?) cut the man in half and screw up his silhouette as they meld with the dark shadows and the sword.

Also the angle/composition is not really dynamic or interesting at all, which is probably the damning flaw in this, considering the subject.
How many thumbnails did you do before choosing this composition?

Did you just make the image larger?! Resize it to be smaller, now it's too big.

Try to resize it so that we do not have to scroll around
the screen at all to view the whole thing. It will make
it much easier for us to crit the piece.

    That video is great! Haha.

I did a couple in my sketchbook but I think I pretty much jumped in head first with it. That's probably my main problem, I spend so long trying to come up with something to draw that when I do, I just dive in.

I will go do some thumbnails and try and come up with a more dynamic compositions.

Apologies for the image suddenly getting larger, I uploaded the wrong image at first, I will resize now.

When you're working on your new thumbnails, try to think 3D. Both the dragon and the man are shown pretty much from the side in your image. The image would be much more interesting and dynamic if one of them (either the dragon or the man) were closer to the viewer while the other was farther away.
