It's coming along, the male is almost done, just need a few tweaks with it's colours and anatomy. Female still needs a bit of work, but it will be done, possibly today, if not then tomorrow....or friday....also like scorge I may have a crack at crystal and goo as well after I'm finished with this one, cuz I got a neat idea for that one.

Banvivirie: Nicely done! Great job with the underwater reflection on the surface and the texturing is quite believable.

Couple more sketches from today. The fighting guys are supposed to be going at it over the female in between. She looks more like a hot dog than a viable creature design I know.

Rob Powell: Thanks for the advice! I didn't like the original designs so I decided to have another go at it. Otherwise, neat details on the male in your work. The female is looking a little plain right now but like you said before, you'll do more work on her so I trust that she will look more redefined and detailed when you're done.

scorge: Neat sketches so far. Thanks a lot for mentioning a hotdog. Now I'm starving. In seriousness, your creature concept is remarkable.

Pixeltuner: Your concept art really stands out especially with the gelatinous female. What seems to be missing is the dark shadow under the male's belly because if you look at him, you see shadows under his chin and neck as well as the thighs but not under his belly.

Banvivirie: Impressive, that's all I have to say.

    _____________

Changed the silhouette design. Just did a general rough painting with female creatures last night. Still not sure what to do with the male, though.

The word ‘anarchy’ comes from the ancient Greek αναρχία in which αν meant ‘without’ and αρχία meant first a military ‘leader’ and then ‘ruler’. Anarchist society is one ‘without rulers’: a classless, non-hierarchical society.

All I can say is at least I tried

So this is an emerald hive. The hive is also the queen, and she is composed mostly of acidic goo which is used to break down rocks in the creation of more emerald crawlers. Her crawlers bring back rocks and food for her. When the hive gets too big, one segment buds off and is taken by a couple of crawlers to a new area to set up a new hive.

...definitely the weakest COW I've ever drawn. I don't have enough time to finish this properly.

Scorge: I was sick for a couple of days, I'll get to it

Looking badass, although they don't look like they're of the same species. The shapes of their heads are too vague of a hint atm.

I think i'll go for Rooted, Stationary Male and Hyperactive, Nomadic Female.
Universal reason isn't always fair but it has an amazing sense of humour.

Had a go at this tonight, just a quick one. The males have to fly to the female before thier wings completely decay.

Rob This looks killer at the moment. Possibly my favorite design from you yet. If you have the time you should consider adding something more interesting to the atmosphere and background (both above and below water). Maybe add some distant land mass or underwater terrain. Also, the water should probably be just a tad bit more choppy since right now it looks more like the surface of a lake than the ocean. Just a thought.

Also, I am not so clear about the design of the smaller male. I can't really tell where his head is or how he flies since his wings are so small. I would play around with the male a bit more and maybe incorporate him into the foreground somehow without the zoom bubble.

Lastly, maybe add in a small boat for the diver? I know he's just there for size comparison, but he looks strange out in the middle of the ocean by himself.

    Other than that, wonderful work.
