painter sort of has a built-un update checker right now, but I guess there still will be people unaware of updates coming;
having a short announce-only topic will be good.

Ahhhhhh, I just tried it out. It works for me, my much beloved scratchboard tool is back to normal now It was a complete pain to use a simple brush such as the pens for inking jobs have that .75 second delay....I actually developed a mild headache 2 weeks ago over it. Dunno about bigger brushes yet though, most of my work lately has been mostly line work to prep for a series, then the bigger brushes and higher resolutions come in to play. Thanks Corel

I was hesitant to upgrade to Painter 12 because of the blender brush problem I've had since I lost Painter 7. Mac OSX and the new Intel processor were incompatible with Painter 7. (Remember my constant complaining about that?)

Well, I'm glad to report that a couple of my complaints were rectified in Painter 12.

1. It has good blender brushes. Not as good as the original Fine Dry Brush, but so much better than what they had before.

2. Also, the shaky, wiggly lines I was drawing on my Intous tablet are a thing of the past and it is now a joy to draw and paint with ease and accuracy. And, a relief to know it wasn't my hand shaking with age!!!

Oh, happy day! ...until a later version causes me problems. LOL

I don't know what you'll do without my constant complaining, but I hope this makes your day as it has made mine!

Glad to hear it's better, not so cool a later version breaks things but at least they're more committed to working on it more and listening to users. Hopefully there will be a new update soon that helps more than hurts.

so apparently, they tweaked brush tracking back? It's the 2nd report I see that mentions brushes feeling more like in older painter's versions, even though 12.1 hotfix release notes don't have anything on that matter.

hope they release a 64-bit mac version soon;
if that's true and brushes (esp. camelhairs) don't feel weird anymore, I'll probably upgrade asap in that case.
