    Drawing curly hat hair

How would you recommend going about drawing curly hat hair (as in, the part covered by the hat is straight but the edges not covered are curly)? Every time I try drawing it just by referencing both hat hair and curly hair, I end up with something terrible and it just makes me want to throw a tantrum

Same way I would draw curly dog hair, an electric drill or a tree...by focusing on the fundamental characteristics of the subject.
    What would Caravaggio do?

You simplify hair into locks or ribbons, you don't draw hair strands like spaghetti. Once you can simplify hair into a ribbon it's easy enough to find a ribbon that's only curled on the bottom. If you can't find one you can make it out of paper.

Elwell is not as jaded as you might think. Some of the
recent topics here have made him weep. I think I read
a fact recently that the shortest thread in the forums is:

    Elwell Wept.

That is a truly tragic moment, vast indeed is the burden of caring for the forum, even after 15,000 posts you still seem to be getting the same sorta strange thread over and over again.

(I mean, not that I'm trying to be mean to the OP, but sometimes the question is just,

    i don't even

Elwell has the whole "weeping for the future" thing locked up...can I have "the gnashing of teeth"? Fuggit...I'm claiming "the gnashing of teeth".
