You have a very story-book illustrative style and it's entertaining to look at. Thanks for sharing.

I will say that on those bear people I want to see a little bit more interaction of those toes with the floor. Perhaps having the toes fall on the plane of the floor instead of straight down on top of it would look more natural.

Hey, love the illustrative style, stuff looks great.
although those Procyonians are a little odd to me, not because of how you've drawn them (Lithreil already mentioned the feet), just because they have the touch of the furries about them

Thanks for comments, everyone whom I haven't thanked for comments specifically.

    Let's have some more stuff!

(Yes, the filename is correct. This is really the 11th sketch done for this little illustration. With personal art and no deadline, one can afford to tweak till it looks right forever. )

Okay, let's post more. I managed to get a chance to work more on this personal illustration yesterday.

Color test of the above cleanup, in faux watercolor (ArtRage), before whipping out the actual watercolor.

(This picture still defies all comprehension.)

yes it does defy comprehension but thats why I like it! I get very jaded with goblins, heros and dragons all the time in the WIP section and love it when I stumble across something that makes me do a double take.

Yesterday's practice sketch. More like free-roaming sketch, though.

I am not entirely sure what's up with the floating-cover vessel she
is holding, or what is inside it, or what the masked critter in the
background looks like. I was ad libbing it.

I would prefer a bazooka pointed at me over an angry Pinkie Pie any time!

And hooooly cow, I just recognized who you are as I saw the sketch of the two creatures sharing their food. I knew I had seen similair designs before .
Some of your art back from 10 years ago showed me how awesome digital art can be. Some of your illustrations were the first digital art I had ever seen which had a realistic and epic feel to it. I distinctly remember looking at the "own wool" illustration from 2004 for a long time and thinking about how clever you used all those different shades of grey. Also that Fallstaff illustration was the first furry I ever saw (at least it was the first anthromorphic creature that didn't belong to a tv show or toy series). You must be around since the dawn of the internet, how cool to see that you are still around and still producing art like mad.

Edit: The nostalgia, it's killing me . There's even the dragon anatomy reference sheet on your page. I'm so happy.

Hey Kiera. Thanks for giving me that proverbial warm fuzzy feeling.

Yeah, I guess I was around at the dawn of the internet, since about 1996 or so. Couldn't draw a proper human face to save my life back then, so I stuck to animals for a while.

Love the artist cat thumbnail studies. Before I read I thought it was one of those "order the story" thingies.

    Feeling old yet my mate?

"around since the dawn of the internet!!" they make it sound like it was centuries ago, I mean for heavens sake it wasnt that long ago. So we are not old ok!? I repeat we're not old bud we are just what I like to describe as "seasoned, or experienced".

I love the painter cat by the way and the centaur guy looks like he is straight out of Disneys Fantasia, which is a compliment by the way.
I think Fantasia was great but I must be one of the few folks on the planet who actually thinks that it is, everyone I speak about it just looks at me like I said I wanted to get into a bath of vegetable soup with thier grandmother or something even more exotic!!

oh well enough rambling for now, love the work and please keep an old guy happy by posting loads more !! LOL

No story, really, just a mixed team of gymnasts. The picture is from a sketchbook full of random stuff. Or do you mean the alien? I invented them back in 1992 as aliens that could coexist with humans, rather than conflict with them by default, and they had been creeping up in my work ever since.

Well, if you consider the 1960s ARPAnet experiments, I wasn't born yet... but I think he meant the 1996 emergence of WWW in the public. In which case, yes, I've been [fooling] around since then.

I love the painter cat by the way and the centaur guy looks like he is straight out of Disneys Fantasia, which is a compliment by the way.

I like Fantasia too. So there are at least two of us.

Are you familiar with the drawings by Heinrich Kley? They were most likely the inspiration for a lot of Fantasia imagery - including the centaurs and Bacchus, dancing elephants and crocodiles, and so on.

And speaking of which, here's a sketch of a faun girl. Originally done in HB pencil, but I didn't like the too-smooth resulting look, so I redrew it more loosely with a graphite stick.

Man, your work has so much life, I'm really impressed. I thought it couldn't get better than page 1 and then I saw your color work on page 2 and was just blown away! The dogs on the cover of your SB are an inspiration to me. They have so much energy

Let's have some more color work, then. Here's a 20-minute sketch done in ArtRage - an exercise in limited color and directional lighting.

    Virtual Pose sketches

Recent practice sketches from Virtual Pose 2. I like the VP2 because it has black and white videos. Even with the relatively low resolution of VP2, the black and white is easier to read than color.

Done for sake of refreshing the human anatomy, and reading the structures. Two views of the same pose, each.
