How to install a human arm

I'm playing with the idea of AI getting way to advanced for us to keep under control, even using us as spare parts. all done in photoshop.

The lighting is really good. The two eerie, blueish light sources work very well to create atmosphere. Although some cast shadows wouldn't hurt. The main problem is perspective, things seem to be all over the place and there isn't a sense of space. On the other hand, the colours work very well and it has this nice chalky, pastely feel to it. Nice work

Yeah I agree, there's almost no sense of space in the image. It has a very flat feel because the perspective is off. Another reason everything feels all over the place is because there's no separation between the ground and the wall. It can be very subtle like a sharp line to help the transition with a very minute change in value.

The Robot is renders very nicely and has a pretty strong design to it in my opinion. Even though it's a robot, the gesture feels a little stiff on the spine. The composition feels pretty good, in terms of balance I'd move the focal point, the robot and laptop a little to the left. There's a bit of tension between the right border and the laptop.

I didn't have much time (I did it really fast during my lunch break and all I had was MS Paint and a mouse

) I did a quick resize and position adjustment. I don't know if it's better or not but it could use some more "things" on the table and "stuff" in the room on the top right corner. I think I moved it too far to the left but you get the idea.

Thanks for the input guys, I've tried to take it all on board. I think having the canvas slightly bigger is a huge help. Feels like I get sucked into the image more now.

whats wrong with that?

love this image, i would have said its more of an illustration than design work, but its still sick. im not sure that a scalpel is the best tool to cut through bone, unless, is that a saw in the back on that trolly?

is the laptop and computer screens the only light sources in the room? becuase the chest piece looks like its lit from above, but the rest of the image look lit from the screens.

So 9/3/2012 hasn't happened yet

but it says Guang is from London so it's probably correct

yeah it is, just seems to make sence, smallest to biggest, but neither is verry hard to comprehend i guess.

seems that d,m,y seems to have the majority, north america must have decided to switch it up for some reason, and in typical asian fasion its just completely back to front (or the rest are back to front depending on culture).

Haha damn I'm retarded. It didn't even cross my mind to think of the format.
I just assumed that me being from the US meant that everyone else was from the US and did things our way

I read a little into dates at one point, some countries do y/m/d because the day is less significant than the year, then the UK does it backwards because, well it does

and god knows why americans do it the way they do

I thiiink it was something to do with the military? Like the month is more important then the day, but then you need to know the day, and then the year because, its probably the year you're in?
( I maybe TOTALLY wrong )

I say take a look at perspective. The perspective in this piece is really not that far off if seen trough a telescope. The perspective changes when you step back and zoom in.

It would be more believable if the perspective was that of a person being in the room.

Get a camera and experiment with zoom and other properties. you need to know that stuff and you need to take refrence/texture photos anyway.
