    GREGFEET STOMP.

    WE HAVE STARTED DRAWING AGAIN.

WE WILL ATTEMPT TO COMMUNICATE VIA IMAGES INSTEAD OF WORDS.

WE WILL GET BETTER AT EVERYTHING, AS LONG AS WE CONTINUE TO DRAW.

WE ARE CURRENTLY WORKING ON AN OLD MAN IN A LIBRARY. THIS IS WHERE WE ARE AND HOW WE GOT THERE.

WE ARE ATTEMPTING TO CONSTRUCT A PAINTING FROM THE BEGINNING, USING SCIENCE.

THIS IS A PORTRAIT THAT LOOKS LIKE US.

We have satisfied today's need for sketch. We shall sleep and resume anon.

Oh man, I'm lovin' this thread so far.

The old man in the library is coming along well. It's very dark right now though; not really sure if that's part of your master plan or not. (Working dark to light perhaps? Or just haven't figured out what kind of light set-up you want to use?) Besides the value range, the only thing bugging me right now is his right (our left) arm, which feels too long, that the perspective of the forearm with the hand is kind of confusing right now, like the hand is angling up towards us at an awkward angle from the arm. I would recommend taking a photo of yourself.. selves.. in the position to help you out with the hands. You might also want to lower that shoulder so it's slumping down considering that this is an old, frail man.

@dierat WE THINK YOU HAVE NICE EYES, AND WE APPRECIATE THEM.

PROGRESS. WE ARE UNCOMFORTABLE WITH OUR LIMITED UNDERSTANDING OF MANY THINGS, BUT THROUGH OUR MANY FAILURES WE HAVE IMPROVED.

WE ARE LIKE A CHILD ONLY STARTING DRAWING; WE FIXATE ON ONE FACET OF THE ENTIRE PICTURE AND FAIL TO RECOGNIZE ITS INTERACTIONS IN THE REST OF THE WORLD IN WHICH IT RESIDES.

WE ARE FRUSTRATED AND ARE QUESTIONING THE WISDOM OF ATTEMPTING A PROJECT OF THIS MAGNITUDE WITH LITERALLY LESS THAN A DOZEN ACTUAL REFERENCED PAINTINGS EVER.

SLOWLY, WE PROGRESS. WE SHALL FINISH THIS TO A REASONABLE STANDARD OF EXCELLENCE, THEN PROCEED WITH EDUCATIONAL REFERENCED PAINTINGS.

Seriously. It's frustrating. Any Criticisms or suggestions of process are very welcome. At this stage of the painting, I'm lost on how to proceed.

    WE PAINTED OUR DESK.

And forgot a couple things in the process, such as the entire reflection of the phone.

WE HAVE TAKEN STEPS TOWARD CONQUERING OUR FEAR OF LIGHT, AND GAINED SOME ABILITY IN MAKING FACES NOT LOOK LIKE CLAY.

    We enjoy experimenting.

Think the still life of your desk shows some promising potential Perhaps try and get thoose shapes down more accurately before you flesh your drawing out, and don't be afraid to experiment with some crazy detailing!

    Bridgman studies.

We start lifedrawing in a few days! We'll post results if we can get decent scans of them.

WE DRAW LIFE AGAIN. AFTER FOUR YEARS OF HIATUS, WE RETURN. WE WILL GAIN MUCH.

(First class had an hour and a half of talking for a three hour class, though. Got 2 20 minute poses and a good handful of 60s-2min-5min, but not nearly enough drawing. Here's one of the 20 minutes!)

    THREE MINUTES.

    THIRTY MINUTES.

    FOURTY FIVE MINUTES.

We are not used to these incredibly long poses, but we're pleased with the results.

~30 minutes each on big ol' newsprint. Should invest in a decent camera for decent picture quality, but I can't really justify the expense!
