This is awesome. As someone who is never able to attend any workshops due to location (I never seem to have enough cash to pay for the event AND a plane ticket AND hotel room), this sounds like a dream come true. Hopefully, I can pull it together for this.

Thanks, Jason, and all the people of TAD and CA for putting this together.

"Contrary to the belief of the layman, the essential of art is not to imitate nature, but under the guise of imitation to stir up excitement with pure plastic elements: measurements, directions, ornaments, lights, values, colors, substances, divided and organized according to the injunctions of natural laws. While so occupied, the artist never ceases to be subservient to nature, but instead of imitating the incidents in a paltry way, he imitates the laws."-Andre Lhote

You hit the nail on the head. The workshops would end up costing folks up to 2k USD to attend and nowadays that can be tough. It is going to be a great show. Just wait til you see who the other speakers are!

And Jake it is an online event so as many people who can come can be there. It also allowed me to gather speakers who would not be able to come otherwise.

    Sounds interesting.

When the event is over hopefully you can post some notes on the highlights of everything.

Would like to hear about some of the greenlight pitchs.

    Cheers, Jim

Do you know of any examples of what might be covered within art, design and production? I have purchased quite a few download and streaming classes, and am curious as to what I could expect from a conference verses the downloads and TAD intro classes. Are they different? Similar?

(P.S. I work in producing art for theme park projects (concepts and graphic design), so not all of the business stuff transfers to that world... but building art skills and technique is helpful for wherever you are within entertainment... I am always looking to build my proficiency in art and catch up on some of the "traditional" art training that I missed, having been a Digital Media/Computer Animation major with only a few drawing classes. Thanks for all of the great videos so far!)

This is not the same program as what we do in the intro classes.

The art side will cover a variety of topics associated with creating worlds and universes...no matter what medium you create for.

For what you want, you should also consider taking Marshall Vandruff's anatomy class and the figure classes from TAD. You will level up. I have taken his anatomy class on three occasions and it is fabulous.

Regarding the biz stuff not being applicable...oh the contrary. Given what you do, I will bet that you are going to have dreams of your own and if you have this information you are better prepared to do so. My biggest problems I encountered in the industry came from not understanding business back then. This event provides the necessary kinds of content that cannot be found in any other art school. The more you know about your rights, negotiation, strategy, promotion, marketing...all of that comes back to you having the best opportunities you can get. I can understand where that perspective comes from but I can tell you from experience...it is entirely valuable to your path.

    Hope to see you there!

Thanks, Jason. I appreciate your perspective, and also the fact that these talks are available On-Demand... Very helpful for those of us who are busy all day, and I am sure also for people in very different time zones. You all are doing great stuff! I will look at my budget over the next few days and decide how to roll! :-)

I'm seeing data here that is conflicting. The post says you can receive early registration until the first, but the poster /image posted says until the 5th. Which is it?

We will allow access for at least 60 days after the conference. We are working to have this as flexible as possible.

    Thanks for asking.

Early Registration is until March 15th. That is the latest we could extend it. Do get the registrations in as soon as you are able, as we do believe this event will fill up.

Super excited to have you all with us! We are going to have one hell of a good show.

Just curious on how this event will "fill up" as people are essentially paying for an online pass vs. physically attending the event. Is there a digital fire marshal thats has a bandwith limit to how many people can log in at once? Also are the various speakers staggered with their presentations or are they happening simultaneously? And how much interaction/q&a/feedback will these sessions allow? and what will the turn around be for the uploading of these presentations from the live times?

    thanks

We are keeping the total headcount limited so the participants can get as much out of it as possible. Personally, I want those who attend to say...that was flat out incredible.

The speakers are staggered. If you miss one for whatever reason, you can catch it on Demand too.

There will be specific Q&A sessions as well as portfolio reviews and such, which are all about interaction. The talks are like the TED talks, they are about listening to the truth of what the speaker has to say.

Turnaround time for uploading? It's all live...and the on demand are immediate. There will be a few mins break between talks, but not more than five. We have this system down well and it is very easy for everyone to use to connect, share, learn...etc....

    Best,

    Jason

So before the summit starts are we going to submit some portfolio images into your own system to be reviewed or do we redirect the speakers and reviewers to our own website?
