But yeah, I'm terribly self concious. I think I would just curl up and die if any of my cruddy, unfinished work got out in a place like this. I still don't understand why any body would like it.
    How about a trade?

You start up a sketchbook thread and begin posting your work for critique, and I offer you this:

Y'see back when I was 13 or so I really liked DBZ, was really bad at art, and had just discovered scanners and Photoshop.

Yes, this is a real thing I drew and colored. I even worked real hard on it, back then.

P.S. The most embarrassing part? Choosing the image categories and description in the 'Manage Attachments" window.
-My work can be found at my local directory thread.

The shyness thing only adds to the creepiness of the OP. People who hide out for long stretches and then suddenly expose genitals in public are generally called flashers. Wouldn't want to shake his hand, if you know what I mean.

Though... We all want to be open minded here. And we aren't prudes. But, there must be sites out there for art-porn/erotica where people are looking for just the sludge the OP seem randy to proffer. This site tends to be more traditionalist, presenting art where the charge comes from the talent, not the titilation.
Well, if it helps, I'm not a creepy flasher by any means; I just find the subject matter to be completely fascinating. I can totally understand where you are coming from though.
I'll have to buy some batteries for my camera today and I'll take some pictures of sculpture the gallery was initially interested in and post it to the critique section of the website later tonight and you can judge me based on that; though I have that embarrassed feeling having seen how much greater the other sculptors on this site are.

I do hope I'm not coming across as some tryhard, speshul-snowflake with my themes though. I'm not trying to be forced or anything like that, but in all honesty, something like a woman bursting from an erect phallus whilst drowning in semen was something I genuinely considered to be "not that weird" haha

Do you get very sad if I say "THANK GOD YOU GREW UP!!!" ...?

Then again, I think the perspective of the character is very impressive considering you were 13

@ the-eunja: Get it over with! You already admitted to doing it, and since you are with a bunch of artists I bet >90% can already visualize to greater or lesser extend what you are talking about!
...However, if you want to make excuses for not posting you could at least use the "respect for minors".

Yeah sorry, I did reply to to somebody's earlier post but for some reason my reply was awaiting moderation, whereas the DBZ post went through straight away so it looked like I was ignoring some critique.

    But thanks x

Yeah here's the similar discussion, they took it as well as this person.
I think if you want to do controversial art you need to have a thicker skin.
Thanks very much for the link, very helpful x

So I just took two raw photos of the sculpture I was last working on... I say last because I actually haven't touched it for 2 months and instead chose to leave uncovered in a corner of my room. The Sculpey has since become brittle and dirty, I've also knocked it over a few times which explains why some of detail has become squashed.

It looked a hell of a lot better before I abandonned her, as she at one point has both her antennae and lovely, big snails shell protruding from her back as well.

The reason I haven't touched it in a while is because half way through I realized that the wire I've used for the frame is far too thin and likely to crack should I attempt to bake it. That and I'm having problems getting her to sit up since attaching her head, which I did initially intent to resolve by baking steel ball bearings somewhere around her knees to balance her.

I'm considering just destroying it at this point as it's fallen into pretty disgusting condition and I'm pretty ashamed of the overall quality. Even so, I'm open to critique, so fire away.

I know she's rocking back, but the breasts are....way too high up. If you look at one shot of your image, it's like she's got dewlap neckboob.

Though honestly, I'm not sure this is the "jizzing dongs" people assumed?

Sometimes you should take a look about the site and the art before worrying about certain things?

Haha, that was a hyperbole on my part. I got caught up in the moment and was overwhelmed with jizz dong fever after reading those initial posts. All I really wanted to see was actually an example of the OPs work, specifically the stuff that was picked up for the gallery.

Oh no guys, jizzing dongs is only a concept at the moment. It's something I want to sculpt soon once I've got a better grip on sculpting, armatures and balance.
This is only like my 4th attempt at sculpting, because I keep getting annoying and destroying them.

Jizzing dongs will definitely happen lol

I apologise for introducing the now oft-repeated adjective/phrase in this thread to the art discussion forum everyone!

Good luck to the OP, but if you really want more crits, there is a sculpture section on the forums that you would probably find handy.

This was last thing I made an attempt at. I thought everything was going pretty well, until I attempted to paint it. I quickly realized after that I was using the completely wrong paint for this, but by then it was too late. It's left a load of lumpy, dried pieces of paint all over it. After that I pretty much stuck it under my bed and ignored.

    I'm not good at failing.

Jizzing dongs or no..it looks like you are sculpting with super sculpey? If you want to learn more about it go here: The Clubhouse. Lot's of great tips, etc. You can also learn more about other mediums that are similar.

I got no clue about sculpting, but based on the photo the last one you posted is the one I like the most

You shouldn't see this one as fail. Just a bad choice of material, it still seems to have a good practice value. Being hard on yourself can be good for pacing and determination, but don't use it to bring yourself down!

You should take the sculpture out and then read the "fuck yeah" thread they have stored around here somewhere...

I'm worried about being viewed as this untouchable, graphic artist who only advertises artwork that revolve around sensitive subjects and gaining no further interest in my art.

Can any of you give me any advice regarding the subject matter? Any past experiences you may have had, whether you have a limit on the sort of art you produce?
Darn, I think it was only yesterday that I mentioned Mapplethorpe LOL

So, Jeff Koons is actually a heterosexual?

    Well!

I'll never look at this thing the same way again:

Although... one thing that does baffle me.... people say sexual themes are often used for attention and shock value.
Nowadays, especially when half the times when you google something with a typo, you often get hit by a *few* NSFW images at the minimum, why are we so shocked by it and give it a time of the day?

Like OMG, an erect penis and someone is trying to be in your face with it, now *there's* something I've never seen before. Maybe it's guys that get shocked, because they don't quite realize how obnoxious and in your face they can be with that darn thing. At some point, you just get.. desensitized.

I get more shocked by and attentive to dicks not trying to get in your face, then those who do.

Watch that link people. It might be a one-off but I used to get these everytime I went on another forum (that I soon stopped because one eventually got through and they're keyloggers.)
Just a warning because the last thing I want is people having to go through the trouble I did to boot the damn thing back out again.

In other news, Damn I love that sculpture up there (the recent one) Reminds me of the kind that my mother collects (peculiar taste, but it's definitely something unique)
