P.O.W.! Challenge 56 (A-B) Steampunk and Vision Quests Final Poll

You guys shame me every time. There is some great stuff in this poll, and so many great fragments that people hadn't quite finished, but I understand, there are time constraints on us all.

Also sorry I was sick and lost a load of time the last fortnight. I'll be more timely on the next one, I promise. Oh, and I'll put up a new challenge tomorrow. I haven't heard from Ilaekae recently, but his internet comes and goes like a cat, so I can't tell you what the deal is with his planned team challenge. I'm sure we'll all hear more about it when he's got a more reliable connection.

I liked all the bits and pieces people had in, but I really liked this one from Veldaria

I tell you guys, I love them all, but Angel Intheuk gets my vote for a fantastic punch line.

donalfall gets my vote - I just love lady inventors (hence why I did one myself :p) and this whole exploration of the theme of loving a machine etc. Plus I think the "defeat my machine" concept is made of awesome!

Everyone did a great job though and I love Angel Intheuk's punchline too. Now I just want to know what exactly the Beatles have been taking!

donalfall - you've got my vote! i live how you drew the shadows! and the simplicity!
angel intheuk - nice story! though-said it before-it's too unfinished in my opinion. you could have done a lot more with more colors!
jssabastian - nice use of ink. your comics are full of action, but often there are also a bit messy! keep doing traditional stuff!
kjesta - nice and clean-maybe too clean? try to not get stuck in perspective and correctness!
klortho - great as usual!
veldaria - i really love your colorpalette, your compostion, the absence of text (even if its not finished) all this makes it so romantic and melancholic!

i voted for mighty!!!!! klortho it reminded me of PLANET EXPRESS(futurama) meets fear and loathing in las-vegas. not too mention his work is alway's consistent and is frigging awesome inker!

@ donafall......uuummmm i'm glad your better...but you can't be in the poll! you didn't post anything in the original thread before the 15th mod or not....deadlines are deadlines you can't just place yourself in the poll, when poll starts, becuase you made it!!!!!!WTF! as non competitive ok sure. ON that note i really enjoy your story base. but when you put your dialogue words under the panels it looks more like a storyboards.....on art i no you where sick but i know your better!!!!!!!!

@angel.....really dug your first page and the way you tied in the club scene while tripping of acid/ectasy like the music so loud what did you say??? but VISION QUEST was supposed too be about colors...........EDIT wich you had awsome.

@velderia....i have no idea what topic you where covering? steampunk? although you art is clear and readable. i would like too see you create some differen't characters for challenges! (not the same girl over and over) throwing a patch over the eye makes one a pirate. leather jackets peircings and a fuck the system attitude makes one punk!

@kjesta. i really admire your entry.....your detail in your backrounds wich imp is hard too do is awsome!!!! your story line was sound... if klortho had not made an entry you woulda had my vote.......i really look forward to you coloring your entry's.....

@ ex-machina. clear line work!!!! but four page's of line work for what could have easily been done with two too match the story.....

p.s i now my my work is messy but on this round i used five differen't pens. i'm attempting to produce a value scale by shading.... i never win here but am happy that i take risks. i find it interesting most people only went black and white this round-strange

Donalfall Aw thanks very much!! I appreciate the vote I really like your story and how it flows, and how you've shaded the backgrounds using different strokes, it seperates the panels really nicely.

ex-machina Thanks for your crit, nice little push. Your story is very interesting, I like the way you've conveyed the 'vision' guy. I was a little confused as to what was going on at first and had to read it a few times before I got it. For me, I think it would benefit having more of an explanation at the beginning to set the scene. But I like the neatness of your linework and the little details.

J.S.Sebastian Yeah! I really should have gone overboard with the colours but I didn't have too much time and just used layer effects which I've discovered don't show up too good on some monitors you live and learn.
Your comic has a great energy I liked the pacing but the story has a few gaps, like, what does the monochle do? and who's the bad guy and why did he capture those guys? It's a cool story regardless though and don't stop taking risks!

Kjesta You got my vote! I thought your story and execution of it was the most thought out and finished. You're very good at keeping your drawing consistent and the characters recognisable in each panel and as for the Beatles..they took just about everything as far as I know! Wouldn't recommend that lol

klortho Lol, great work man, really nice! I almost voted for you but I'm a sucker for a love story. This strip reminds me so much of Transmetropolitan, who are you influences?

Veldaria Definitely would have got my vote if it was finished love your characters and style

Angel Learned alot on this challenge but must learn more about sequential storytelling and practice drawing to a finished standard you lazy cow!
