A question/suggestion on post approval

I understand post approval/moderation currently depends upon post count, but would it be possible to factor in join date as well? Do spammers/bots register months or years in advance?

I currently have a post awaiting approval.. but I joined back in 2006. I simply lurk unless I have a question or something to say, which isn't often.

About that post of mine awaiting approval.. please just delete it. The thread's run its course and my post would be redundant if it were approved now.

Sorry you've experienced this. I'm fairly new to moderating so I don't know if you're suggestion is workable, I'll flag it up though.

I've deleted your post. There were over 300 posts waiting to be approved that I've been working my way through, once I'm caught up I'll check them everyday and hopefully that won't happen again.

Actually some spammers do lie low for weeks and sometimes months and all come out all at once, which is what happened in 2010. Some of them were 2 years old.

Trying to get some more posts under my belt so that I can avoid putting more workload on you mods, strangely i have to put more work for you in order for there to be less work =P. If you could approve my pending posts I would much appreciate it. Some are just sketchbook updates and others are replies to some SB threads of others. =)

Related question; how long does moderator approval typically take? During the last couple days I have one thread and two or three replies placed in limbo, pending mod approval. I don't have any way of telling, that I'm aware of, if they are still awaiting review or were somehow never submitted correctly. My browser loves to log me out of the website while I'm writing posts, so pressing the submit button may not actually submit anything.

All the mods are volunteers so times can vary depending on what's happening in real life. I spend most of my time here hunting spam and approve posts and threads when I come across them. A couple of others do do it systematically, but their times will vary a lot. Until the upgrade comes along with better controls for spam, you're going to have to lump it.
