How do you change the picture of...

...the thread? You know, that little image that appears to the left of the thread title on the forum? I know you have to attach an image to your first post and that image is the one that shows up as the image of the thread, but is that permanent? If you can change it, how?

This is probably a stupid question, but I'm just curious.
