Good stuff! Love the latest life drawings, I take life drawing classes at a local art store but we never get overweight models, I'm jealous!

very nice sketchbook you got here, your studies are very nicely done, and your life drawing stuff is also nicely rendered out, I like how you shape forms, I'd like to see more stuff outside of all the studies, even though studies are necessary and are definitely helpful. Also maybe a bit less saturation on your colors or just tune down the brightness of them, either way not to big of an issue, because I'm really only seeing it on a few of your digital studies. otherwise just keep up the good work.

Thanks, Natsmall. I think in all my years, this set of models are the first overweight I've drawn. It's a different skill - the first drawings were really tricky as the skinny models have more points of reference when plotting down the original bone structure.

I organise the drawing sessions and so get to pick which body shape to hire for that week. I have trouble finding muscular models in the area for what we need (games characters). I need an athletic black male and an oriental martial artist to complete the set!

I love your figure drawings. They've shown a lot of improvement, especially in how the lighting is interpreted. They are looking more naturalistic. Keep it up!

Hey, good stuff! One thing that came to my mind while browsing your sketchbook was my struggle to copy what I'd see on some patterned surfaces (like grainy walls, or wallpapers, natural stripes on stones, etc.). Sometimes such shapes would seem to create some characters and some of those would be quite amazing so I wanted to capture them. I never succeeded as I wish I would. I understood my mistake, I was trying to capture something full of shapes, colors and shades with simple line strokes.. I'll never get the same effect doing that. So what I wanted to say, I'd propose you to maybe make your lines less define to let observer's mind work out the shapes within the picture

Thanks for coming by at my sketchbook!

    The Horde

Thought I'd begin a new project to fill my lunchtimes. Early days, but I imagine an enormous goblin army... I'll build them in 3d as a modular system probably. With interchangable clothes and equipment... like you get with Barbie.

lunchtime update. Got the low-res base mesh rigged. Not sure whether I'll keep the proportions, I based it on quite child-like / adolescent scaling. I'm itching to get on with the more interesting stuff now though.

I really dig the variations on the goblin archers. The slight shift in stance says a lot.

Thanks, CKLamb. I was tipped by a well educated mate re. the Japanese bowmen as to ways to personalise these goblins to be a bit 'different'. A bit of research into the kyudo yumi bows made me think an oriental slant to certain units of The Horde could look awesome. I envisage an elite set of archers who've plundered the armour from fallen samurai... more updates to follow.

Right, off to check out your sketchbook now in return! Thanks for the comment.

    update 'The Horde'

Progress screengrab. Really pleased how it's coming together as I managed to get the base mesh built, textured and rigged during lunch-breaks. I can get stuck into clothing him with armour and accessories now to add more personality.

    Interesting sketchbook.

Studies looks pretty solid, 3d stuff pretty functional, and sketches very imaginative.

I think you could apply a bit more different values into your paintings\drawing. A bit more Light\darkness play would help either. For example your 3d stuff have it.

Other than that 5 stars from me
