I'm having a horrible time playing around with brushes trying to get some bushes going. I want to do "quick" little bushes with moderate detail such as here in this photo:

they have the dark tones, mid tones and highlights, some leaf detail and so on. I've been trying to get my paintings to look similar to this for a while and I get close to the desired look but it takes me so long to get there. Impasto sorta gets the effect but it's to strong.

I could just use photoshop and use some brushes I have and get the speed painting i want quickly but I honestly really enjoy working in painter and photoshop is just sorta meh for me.

I have tried to use papers but my custom papers don't really get the desired effect. And I can't think of a good pattern for the pattern brush...

So any suggestions would be great :3 <- I want to do this speed painting in an hour. Not spend half an hour on a single bush trying to get the feel right ;___;

- I'm used to using painter for figures and patterns just not foliage >.>
