You seem to have a good imagination, I would definitely recommend that you attend life drawing sessions however. Your anatomy is better than most at your stage but you have much to improve on. Definitely keep updating the sketchbook, I would love to see your future progression!

my new wacom tablet came in the mail FINALLY and here is my 3rd attempt at doing and coloring something.....
oh i have many more traditional sketches but i dont feel like finding my camera sooooo.

Start simple with your still lifes, try fruit, or really basic shapes. Simple then more complex then more complex. Also try a mix of grey scale and color so you can learn both, jumping in to color before understanding grey scale can end up hurting you.

Cool sketches Definitely keep those up while you try to get the handle of the tablet.

If you're using photoshop, i'd suggest checking out Ctrl+Paint It's got a lot of nice things to really understand the program and the benefits of digital vs traditional. Also download his basic brushes. (very simple to make but I can't remember at the moment~)

I'd agree with Diarum, try starting off a painting as a greyscale then apply color over top.

Hello sketchbook buddy! Not a bad start! Hope you stick to it! Thats the way to get a "mentor"/ knowledgeable friends on here. Also be sure to browse sketchbooks and critique others usually they will return the favor and visit yours and critique you! Also you said u need somethings to help to challenge you, have you looked on the first page =p TEEN CHALLENGE =D or the daily sketch group etc are good!

Im kinda wanting to drift into realism but every time i try the picture ends up blurry.
Maybe im applying the brush too big.

Your stuff is blurry because you are using nothing but soft brushes. Try using more Hard brushes. Make sure to really only blur stuff that needs to be blurred. So really think about if it needs to be blurred or not. Anatomy or perspective? Both, though I would say anatomy can take a priority, but this doesn't mean you can't do perspective, you should have at least a basic understanding. learning anatomy is a life long venture so don't get to bogged down with trying to learn everything at once, try and understand the basic form, and move on from there. Work from big to small, never the other way around. If you have anymore questions ask away!

At this early stage, do heaps of studies. Studies from photos, life, other artists work that you like and studies from anatomy books and stuff. Divide up your practice schdeule to be like half study half application, applying what you've learnt from memory/imagination.
And most importantly have fun and learn from your mistakes.

I hear you guys..
Some other people have been telling me to start sketching from real life (like people) but no one stands still
and they say that people with experience can tell the difference between photo and real, but if it will help me in any way, ill pick up a few magazines from school today
Oh and I found myself revisiting works from my past (few months?) so I decided to re draw the idea out again and see what has changed.
Looks like tuns.
I find it helpful to ignore the details in the beginning, just get the overall look and feel first, before I was impatient about doing that.
So when I get a scanner working I can show you all later what I did

I see what you're saying. I suppose the main point of studying from photos is not always having access to life reference. Plus it's not so much about learning how to copy photos, but practice to help you understand different things like figure proportions, poses, drapery/clothing that sort of thing then you can recall that information and apply it to imagined work.

Yeah true no one stands still, probably worse in New York I think it's known for always busy people. Perhaps ask some friends or family members to help you out to pose.

True, think more about the larger shapes and forms before getting stuck into the specific details.

good work! keep studying anatomy, you can take photos of yourself to practice poses too. Object still lifes are good to understand light and different surfaces.

Haha yea, well it was more like I found some math problems in the back of my chemistry notebookbook (but I was still pretty bored)
I feel like im strong at recognizing proportions and such, but Im having a hard time at profile view.
Mainly the neck (in profile) and legs (in profile) and lady's breasts, men are pretty easy

You know what? At least it actually LOOKS like hands god dam, and its not that far from the reference pic. I know its not PERFECT but it shouldn't be, so list your problems and be on your way, GOOD DAY SIR
