IOW #8 - The Ugly Duckling

Illustration of the Week #8: The Ugly Duckling

This is a one week topic.

    Topic
This weeks topic is The Ugly Duckling. I am going to leave this open and not restrict you to a particular scene. So just choose any part of the story and make an illustration of it! The only restriction is it must be close-ish to the original; I don't want robot ducks or anything really out there.

    Deadline
The deadline is Sunday 30th of October, 23:59 GMT

Hi, I might not haves (time, I meant time) to do this but I put together a few of the covers I found on the internet that illustrate the the theme of The Ugly Duckling. There are several ways the story can be interpreted, the main ones being rejection, feeling like an outsider and transformation but the one I like most is of finding one's 'true' family (ever been an aspiring artist in a family of engineers and doctors who think you're weird as hell, you'll get what I mean). For smaller related themes look at this:

I picked out the covers that I felt captured these themes, the one in which the barnyard animals are staring at him is particularly illustrative, also the one where he's looking wistfully at the swans, and the ones that show his loneliness (aww).

I'd like to see illustrations of particular sections of the story, rather than images of the story's theme.

Yes! There are many ways to do a cover, scenes from the story, visual metaphors etc...
Oops, sorry, this particular brief is scenes from the story, anyway hope my enthusiastic suggestions were taken as that, suggestions nothing more.

This is my first time participating in any of the community activities. I'm a huge follower but I haven't really found the time yet. I've never seen an illustration of the week done in pencil so I hope that I didn't make a fool of myself
