News outlets are the best way to do this, I agree. Unless these people have registered their works with the government, they will have very little legal recourse, not to mention the legal fees for taking this guy to court will probably be way more than they'll get unless they can prove how much money he has made off of them. (Exactly what has happened to me in the past). It would be good to see the artists band together though with one lawyer, sort of a private class action lawsuit if that's even possible.

The customer testimonials from those who bought reproductions were very positive. Previous to my initial alert, I spent a number of hours researching this, to make sure that art was being stolen and sold. Prints and canvas reproductions were being sold and a press release announced the completion of a sale of the licensed rights to 4300 works. Since my initial post, each of the links has gone dead, been dismantled and most signs of commerce removed. The site is back up, without the smoking gun. I also understand, from some trusted sources that this guy has a history of doing this. I am concerned about protecting my fellow artist's rights and the concerns of any "attentionwhore" are truly unworthy of my attention.

Where is he getting the high resolution source files for print and for his 'clients' who license the artworks?

Most artists struggle selling their own prints on professional websites at all, i find it hard to believe that he can do so well selling prints of low res jpg files he collects on DA.

To me the scam is way to obvious and if he sold any prints or rights he sure deserves punishment but IMO he is just trying to generate bad publicity.

Steal a car, no one will give a shit, steal a artwork from someone and in a week you will be all over the internet.
